The Notorious B.E.V.Y.: Bevy Smith Dishes On Budget Entertaining

When you're a high-powered publishing executive with a discerning eye for style and a Rolodex that reads like front row at a Marc Jacobs show, what do you do for your second act? For the dynamic Bevy Smith, the answer was to pair her talent as a social conduit with her flair for entertaining and create Dinner With Bevy, a luxury social marketing enterprise that brings together the worlds of fashion, art, music, and media in a delectable, custom salon. Smith, a former Rolling Stone Fashion Ad Director and Vibe Fashion Editor-at-Large, hosts her impeccably curated fetes for celebrities, brands, and tastemakers seeking organic creative connections in a pressure-free environment. On any given evening, you might see Solange Knowles giggling with Paper Magazine Editor-in-Chief Mickey Boardman, or singer-songwriter Vanessa Carlton grooving to the sounds of "Late Night" band master and FOB (Friend of Bevy) Questlove with a Vice President from Miu Miu, Giorgio Armani, or Bottega Veneta, all of whom are among the many who have attended Bevy's dinners. "The best part about hosting dinner parties is when my seating chart is a success. To get a call from a guest the next day saying, 'I absolutely LOVED [xxx]!' is the ultimate kudos for me!" Bevy, who is also working on a style show pilot for the Oxygen Network, relies on classic Emily Post, Diana Vreeland's "Why Don't You..." tips, and the swinging gaiety of the 1950s and 60s for style cues. "Whenever I see a movie from that era, or look at a Slim Aarons photograph, I'm instantly inspired by the light-hearted, fun way folks used to entertain! Let's get drunk, smoke, and swap partners--but do so in a chic environment, " she says with a wink and a laugh. "Very 'Breakfast at Tiffany's!'" And who's on Bevy's personal ultimate guest list? "Nelson Mandela, Diana Vreeland, Michael Jackson, Albert Einstein, Truman Capote, and Bono--but even he would have to remove his shades!" Make room, Martha Stewart: Bevy is on a path to be our generation's hostess with the mostest! Check out the slideshow for a glimpse at some of Bevy's exclusive dinners. Easter Dresses In Pretty Pastels And Springtime Florals ...

    image

One would think that growing up Catholic would automatically give me a fierce aversion to all Easter occasion clothing, given all my unpleasant childhood memories of being forced into a yearly festive ensemble -- complete with an itchy tulle dress, lace gloves, a ridiculous straw hat, and too-tight Mary Janes -- and basically fidgeting through church looking like a human doily. However, now that I'm old enough to dress myself (or rather, sensible enough to pick out my own family occasion-appropriate attire), I can't help but adore all the quintessential Easter prints, palettes, and ruffles that allow you to combine all things girlie and flirty without looking strangely out of character or like you were dressed by your grandma. Whether you need a more conservative option like a boat-neck tie-waisted dress by Anne Klein for a full-on holiday celebration with the church-going fam, or don't celebrate the occasion at all and are just looking for a fun floral print like a flirty chiffon mini dress from Forever 21, the possibilities are endless when you pair with a cardigan for extra coverage when needed, or change from flats to heels to go from day to night. Check out the slideshow for some of my favorite springy sheaths for this Easter season!

Celeb Favorite Han Cholo Jewelry At Very Un-Hollywood Prices ...

Some say that skin is the best accessory, but I beg to differ. Vintage street culture jewelry is the best accessory and can transform a boring outfit into one very chic ensemble of threads. The Han Cholo jewelry line collection has arrived at Karmaloop and is amongst the top choices in my Christmas wish list. Check out the collection, and you€™ll understand why. Invariably on high demand, Han Cholo has become the €œit€ accessory amongst Hollywood€™s hottest celebrities and fashionistas alike. Han Cholo has developed a vast and impressive fan base which includes Gwen Stefani, Jane€™s Addiction, Christina Aguilera, Jennifer Lopez, Snoop Dogg, Nas, Hilary Duff, Paris Hilton, The RZA and many others. Han Cholo€™s brilliance stems from rock n€™ roll, science fiction, fantasy art and hip hop inspirations. Mixing geek culture with street culture, Han Cholo features innovative, hip gold and silver jewelry for both men and women. My personal favorites from the collection are The Rocket Blaster necklace, The Crazy Love Life Ring and The Jacks Earrings €“ rock these pieces, and be certain that all eyes will be on you! Read on for more on Han Cholo and the other jewelry lines youcan find on Karmaloop.com!
