Get Schooled In Style With A Leather Backpack!

Normally the word "backpack" makes you think of the beat-up Jansport that took you through 4 years of textbook-towing through high school. Or, in my case, my shiny patent Hello Kitty pack from 3rd grade that's probably still tucked in my closet somewhere. But when leather is added to the equation, backpacks suddenly get a seriously fashionable upgrade, becoming more of a sporty-inspired handbag than just a practical means of hauling your homework around. Replace your go-to hobo or satchel with a leather rucksack or backpack when you want to go a little more casual without looking sloppy, or when you need more mobility without a clunky tote attached to your side. True, they're better suited for fashion than function (at least compared to the latest wear-and-tear-proof North Face creation), but they're still a cute-and-casual handbag shape to add to your extensive collection. Get City Girl Olivia Palermo's Polished Chic Look

While the character she plays, or is, on The City is pretty loathe-able, you've got to admit Olivia Palermo's style is pretty phenomenal. The socialite has a major knack for mixing and matching throwing high-end items together with low-end and playing with varying proportions, cuts, and fabrics. At the book launch for Awareness: Inspiring Stories About How to Make a Difference hosted by Kenneth Cole, Olivia looked polished and chic with a bit of edgy-fashion-forwardness thrown into the mix wearing a red skirt with cascading ruffles, a loose blazer, platform ankle boots and some seriously statement-making necklaces. This look can work for an event, the office, a date, cocktail hour, and so much more, so why not give it a go?
