Coquette Has Her Eye On Bombako Headbands

    image
Natalie Zee Drieu on Oct 7, 2009 5:23 AM PDT
It's no wonder why Gossip Girl brought headbands to the forefront once again, but these headbands by Bambako take them to a whole new level of sophistication. Details such as feathers, beading, and ornate ribbons make these a perfect compliment to any outfit without looking overly embellished or gaudy. For the Fall/Winter 2009 collection, designer Abigail Ricarte wanted to create pieces that were fun, strong, and ultra femme. "This season, I was really drawn to bold statement pieces by playing with different textures and heavy splashes of color in between. I wanted to appeal to a range of girls - from yuppies to hipsters," says Abigail. And given the variety of her collection, from the glitzy Night in Tunesia to the laidback feathered Oh Hey band, we can't imagine what type of girl wouldn't be able to find something she likes! Head over to Coquette for more fall fashion!

Jessica Alba knows a thing or two about being glamorous on the red carpet. But this past year she has been discovering a whole new type of style -- "mommy chic." One thing that all new moms learn pretty quickly is that having hair in your face while trying to run after your kids is no fun. Jessica is a huge fan of headbands, yet her picks are anything but basic and ordinary. Everything from feathers to ribbons have adorned her pulled-back hairline. Running errands around Los Angeles with her adorable daughter Honor, she sported a cute Stella Accessories feathered headband that added just a touch of whimsy to her jeans-and-tank style. To get the look, mom or not, you can get the Madison headband by Stella Accessories which retails for $42.

Green may not be the first color you're excited to wear in the summer months, but it is making a huge impression this year. Fashion editors all over are praising bold, kelly green shades as a perfect complement to summer skin, a light and refreshing color that works with many skin tones. Imagine carrying around Tory Burch's 'Nico' north/south tote for a perfect pop of green to any outfit. Or popping on this perfect green jersey dress from Myne Karlin to meet your friends for brunch on a warm Saturday. Check out my slideshow for plenty of cute, summery, GREEN looks, because they're not just for St. Patrick's Dayany more!

Get Your Designer Fix For Under 50 Bucks

If I could spend my afternoons purchasing D&G dresses, Hermes ceramic bracelets, and slick Theory blazers, I would never frown again. Since I can't afford to do this, I have resorted to flipping through magazines to get my fashion fix. But while I love spending time with my closest companions (Vogue, Marie Claire, and InStyle), they always leave me unsatisfied, tempting me with glossy pages full of fancy frocks I can't afford (while I feel deserving of designer indulgences, my piggy bank feels differently). This dilemma inspired me to put together a list of designer duds for spoiling myself without any guilty feelings. No matter how deep my pockets are, I should be able to dabble in a little designer fun (and of course, you should too!). Read More at theFrisky.com.

Hippie Headbands: Boho Chic, Or A Recipe For A Bad Hair Day?

    image

I'm all about headbands. They save us from bad hair days and add a bit of preppy flair when needed. Yet there is one headband trend that has some people as divided as Red Sox and Yankees fans. That trend is the horizontal hippie headband look. We saw this trend starting last spring, and it still seems to be going strong. Repeat offenders include Ashlee Simpson, Nicole Richie, Whitney Port and Mischa Barton. Barton has even struck up a partnership with headband designer Stacey Lapidus, making, you guessed it... bejeweled hippie headbands. They have the unfortunate effect of making your hair look like a mushroom cap and make even the coolest hipster look they are trying too hard. Clearly, I'm not a fan, but what do you think of the hair-raising trend?
