Be One With The Woodsmen And Warm Up In A Trapper Hat!

    image
Alex Gambardella on Nov 23, 2009 10:19 AM PST
I'm not gonna lie -- while the cozy cable knits and warm faux fur of a basic trendy trapper hat look too comfy to pass up, this winter's hottest accessory isn't necessarily for everyone. It takes a certain winter style to pull off this bundled-up woodsy look, especially since it can easily bring to mind childhood memories of getting wrapped up like a Christmas present every time you wanted to play outside. The key is to not take the trend too seriously -- treat trapper hats like a casually thrown-on accessory, instead of a frostbite-killing survival tactic. When added to a full-on set of snow gear, the look is a little more functionally overboard than fashionable, but with just a thermal and a pair of rosy cheeks the look is cute without looking costume-y or childish. Browse through the slideshow for a festive bunch of my favorite trapper hats!

Stylehive's Stylescopes Keep You Fashionable In Faux Fur!

With all of the faux-fur options out there, it's easy to stay warm and toasty in the fall/winter season. The planets predict that no matter what it is you may be doing, this week involves a lot of time spent outdoors. Whether it's running errands, last minute business trips, or just hanging out with friends, a little faux-fur will help ward off the chill in the air. Faux fur vests aren't the only fashionably fuzzy items available and after consulting the stars, Stylescopes has been able to find which faux fur item is right for you! Gemini, your jeans would look great paired with some boots with fur trim. A whole torso covered in faux-fur maybe a little much for the dreamy Pisces so stick to something simple, like a stole to wrap around your shoulders. No matter your style and no matter what the stars have in store for you this week, stay cozy with faux fur! Click on the slideshow to see which faux fur item has been deemed best for you and your star sign!

How To Look Cute (And Stay Dry) In The Rain!

Looking cute when it's raining is no easy feat. It's amazing how quickly you can go from looking impeccably stylish to looking like... a wet dog (and trust me, that's not cute if you're a human). You could brave the storm in head-to-toe rain gear, but at that point you'd probably rather be drenched and fashionable than dry and completely drab. I've compiled a collection of rainy day essentials that are so stylish, you might find yourself wishing for puddles! Hunter wellies are playful and easy to coordinate with your outfits, and you can seriously wade to work in them- I know I have! A cute trench coat is a must-have- I'm loving Topshop's take on the classic topper. Kate Spade's bow-adorned rain boots would be lovely with thick-knit tights and a felted mini, and you definitely won't forget your umbrella when it happens to be clear and bubble-inspired! See my slideshow for the wet-weather items that'll make your (rainy) day!

Tip Your Hat Towards Summer Style!

This is really the era of self-expression and as long as it looks good and you have the attitude to rock it, anything goes! Skinny jeans and wide-leg trousers are both in style; tops with super long hems as well as cropped cardigans have both become fashion staples, and any bright color, funky pattern and unique silhouette is welcome! The same goes for accessories and this summer, really top off your look with a hat! Usually reserved for slightly cooler weather say, in the winter and fall, hats are really making a statement this summer. From floppy, wide-brim straw hats reminiscent of the Kentucky Derby to classic, sharp fedoras that add edgy attitude to a flirty dress, the wide array of coif-topping styles make it fun and easy to find a shape that works for you! So give your daily SPF moisturizer a little help and invest in a great summer hat to stay cool and stylish all season! I'd say "hats off" to great style, but you'll be wanting to keep them on in this case! Check out the slideshow for a variety of styles and prices to fit your look and budget.

Top Off Your Look With A Boater Hat!

Picture yourself in a boat on a river.... The Beatles may have had something there. We've seen the fedora come and go and the floppy sun hat loitering around, but the new shape in hats is... drumroll please... the boater hat. It's a classic silhouette, but the mini boater hat from Pixie Market was the first to re-catch our eye, now we can't stop spotting them on the style-set in the streets. We love this perfect straw boater hast with grosgrain ribbon from Brooks Brothers & suggest you give this new/old shape a try.
