Bag Of The Week: The Kooba 'Jagger' Bag

I'm sure I'm not the only one by far, but I am guilty of having an extensive handbag collection of all different shapes and styles. In recent years, however, I have matured from snatching up any cute purse and taking it home, only to realize that it doesn't actually match anything I own and have it just sit there until I obtain an outfit that goes with it. Instead, I have wised up and learned to invest in a well-made, high-quality piece that is versatile and convenient, as well as trendy but classic at the same time. That may seem like a lot to ask from one bag, but the 'Jagger' bag from the Kooba Holiday '09 Collection easily delivers all those qualities. The soft leather, the subtly edgy zipper detail and the classic shape make the Kooba 'Jagger' Bag a must-have bag that works for so many occasions from work to play and back again. Plus, it comes in a variety of colors, meaning you can choose the best look for you, so make room for this pretty bag in your purse family!

Cute Convertible Clutches Are Two (Or More!) Purses In One!

I'm the kind of girl at the club who has her purse glued under her arm all night long. You know, the one bumping into everyone and knocking over everybody's drinks when I turn around -- not because I can't walk in my heels, but because my handbag is jutting out dangerously from my side. I don't know what it is, but while all my friends trade in their oversized satchels for a nice compact clutch with just their night-out necessities, I just can't jump on the bandwagon. I mean, sure, it's space-saving, but then you actually have to hold it all night long. And who wants to sacrifice a perfectly good cocktail-holding hand for the sake of a smaller purse? That's why I'm all about these convertible clutches. Equipped with either a removable chain strap or fold-over minimizing capabilities (or both), these little multitaskers can serve as totes, mini-shoulder bags, or coin purses in addition to clutches and can transform from one to the other in seconds with just a simple snap of a button or unhinging of a clasp! Take a look at the slideshow for a selection of my favorite multifunctional transforming clutches!

The Salvatore Ferragamo brand is well known for well-made and stylish shoes, but one should take a closer look at their amazing selection of handbags. Add a dash of drama to your daytime ensembles or evening outfits with these fabulously feminine Salvatore Ferragamo shoulder bags! The Mini Vara Capra ($1550) and Mini Vara Capra Small ($1490) are shoulder bags with the added sweetness and drama of a grosgrain bow on the chain and leather straps. The bags are both made out of leather but the pleating detail gives it the look of satin-y fabric. Both bags are accented with nickel hardware and feature adjustable shoulder straps. These Salvatore Ferragamo bags are such a feast on the eyes! They'll work with a daytime look of jeans, a cute blouse and sandals. They'll easily transition into nighttime when paired with your little black dress and smart coat. Want to know more about these amazing Ferragamo bags? Click over to our friends at Splendicity!

Khirma Eliazov: The New "It" Bag?

    image

I firmly believe that the best fashion finds happen randomly-- especially when you're not looking for them. So it was that I milled around a Vogue fashion week party several months ago and started talking to a stylish woman who carried one of the most beautiful and unique handbags I've seen in a while. When I inquired, Khirma Eliazov replied that she'd designed the bag herself as part of her eponymous line of leather accessories. She then invited me to her fashion week trunk show, where I proceeded to be completely bowled over by further pieces rife with her signature top-quality leather and delightful attention to detail. Erma, as she's known, credits her first job out of college as an accessories assistant at Mademoiselle with what she laughingly calls her "obsession" with accessories. After stints as a stylist, brand manager, and freelance market editor for, among others, Harper's Bazaar, Elle Accessories, and, yes, Vogue, she decided to follow her heart and create a collection that is "beautiful, timeless, different, and, most importantly, functional. Everything about this line surrounds luxury at an attainable price point." Cited as a designer to watch by WWD and toted by fashion 'it' girls like Behati Prinsloo, check out the Khirma Eliazov slideshow to see just why she's one to keep an eye on, and visit her site for more details!
