CollegeCandy Shows Us How To Pull Off The Formal Fauxhawk

    image

I'm not really a fan of traditional up-dos. You know, the ones with the spiral curls that are pinned neatly together and sprayed with enough hairspray to destroy the ozone. Maybe it's just me, but I've never really been into pageant hair. I prefer something a little sleeker and sexier, not to mention something that doesn't quadruple my carbon footprint. When it comes to formal or special events, I'm all about taking risks with hair and makeup. The bigger the risk the better the payoff, right? That couldn't be more true with the look Kim Kardashian is rockin' on the red carpet. If you've got a formal coming up (or you just want to try something different on a Saturday night), this fauxhawk is sophisticated, fun and super easy to do. Who Had The Best 'Do At The "Good Hair" Premiere?

    image

For a celebrity, it's always vital to look your best wherever paparazzi might be present (like, uh, everywhere?)... so naturally a Los Angeles film premiere is no occasion to slack off, no matter how casual the affair. But when the film is Chris Rock's docu-comedy "Good Hair," the pressure is on to be more than just impeccably clothed. Last week's Westwood debut brought forth a throng of fashionable ladies to the red carpet, including Gabrielle Union and Nia Long who both showed off bouncy curly coifs that hardly seemed as high-maintenance as the film subjects' stressed-out tresses. And Eve and Raven-Symone were looking perfectly polished from their feet to their follicles with their shiny straightened locks that at least looked fuss-free and effortless (and that's all that matters, right?). Vote below and tell us who you think had the best hair at the "Good Hair" premiere! Photo Credit: PR Photos

Get The Look: Megan Fox's "Teen Choice Hottie" Hairstyle

    image
Alex Gambardella on Aug 21, 2009 7:18 AM PDT
Last week, actress Megan Fox won the award for "Female Hottie" alongside Robert Pattinson at the 2009 Teen Choice Awards in Universal City, California. Renato Campora for Frederic Fekkai created a young tousled, soft and sexy look for Megan, perfect for strutting the red carpet and accepting her life-size surfboard onstage. Below she shares how to create the look yourself!

The Look: Tousled, soft and sexy

How to Get the Look: In order to achieve Megan Fox's soft and sexy summer look Renato started out by using FEKKAI COIFF Strong Hold Volume Mousse on damp hair to create sexy texture that holds. He then air-dried her hair his fingers and used a one-inch curling iron to make long soft waves and give the hair a modern and fresh feeling. He then spritzed the hair with FEKKAI GLOSSING Sheer Shine Mist to add shine and finished with FEKKAI Sheer Hold Hair Spray to maintain the look all show long.

A strong girl like Ri-Ri isn't one to let a scandal get her down for long, and her eclectic and edgy style hasn't suffered any despite her tiny break from the spotlight. From LA to NYC and beyond, she's partied it up with pals in metallic leggings, relaxed spa-style in flowing printed dresses, rooted for the Lakers courtside in funky sneaker heels, and embraced her inner rocker-chick with moto jackets and a buzzed hairstyle. The Essence blog tracks her fashionable footsteps over the recent months as she enjoys the single life and gets ready to embrace the limelight yet again! Head over to take a look at the slideshow!
