CollegeCandy Shows Us How To Pull Off The Formal Fauxhawk

    image

I'm not really a fan of traditional up-dos. You know, the ones with the spiral curls that are pinned neatly together and sprayed with enough hairspray to destroy the ozone. Maybe it's just me, but I've never really been into pageant hair. I prefer something a little sleeker and sexier, not to mention something that doesn't quadruple my carbon footprint. When it comes to formal or special events, I'm all about taking risks with hair and makeup. The bigger the risk the better the payoff, right? That couldn't be more true with the look Kim Kardashian is rockin' on the red carpet. If you've got a formal coming up (or you just want to try something different on a Saturday night), this fauxhawk is sophisticated, fun and super easy to do. Get The Look: Megan Fox's "Teen Choice Hottie" Hairstyle

    image

Last week, actress Megan Fox won the award for "Female Hottie" alongside Robert Pattinson at the 2009 Teen Choice Awards in Universal City, California. Renato Campora for Frederic Fekkai created a young tousled, soft and sexy look for Megan, perfect for strutting the red carpet and accepting her life-size surfboard onstage. Below she shares how to create the look yourself!

The Look: Tousled, soft and sexy

How to Get the Look: In order to achieve Megan Fox's soft and sexy summer look Renato started out by using FEKKAI COIFF Strong Hold Volume Mousse on damp hair to create sexy texture that holds. He then air-dried her hair his fingers and used a one-inch curling iron to make long soft waves and give the hair a modern and fresh feeling. He then spritzed the hair with FEKKAI GLOSSING Sheer Shine Mist to add shine and finished with FEKKAI Sheer Hold Hair Spray to maintain the look all show long.

Buzzed hairstyles seem to be all the rage for up-and-coming Hollywood starlets. From Rihanna's fashionable fauxhawk to Cassie and LaLa Vasquez's shaved sides, edgy cuts seem to keep these hair hoppers in the spotlight. Solange Knowles, who was photographed yesterday with this short sheared wash-and-wear hairstyle, is the latest celeb to say said goodbye to long tresses. The legendary model/actress Grace Jones was one of the first stars to make shaving the sides of your hair chic and cool. Are you bold enough to rock a trendy short 'do? Hot In The Hive: Russian Amber Imperial Shampoo from Philip B.

I've said it before and I'll say it again... I have strangely unmanageable hair. You'd think that since I'm Asian and I have straight hair, that I should have the easiest to manage hair ever. I was hoping for the same, but no such luck. I have to deal with a lot of fly-aways and cow-licks and my part never wants to stay in one place. Straightening my hair works out a few of these problems, but then I'm left with flat, dull hair that looks like it's been shelacked to my head. So many girls and so many types of hair and I just want one, reliable beauty product that'll give me my dream hair without me having to add de-frizzer, sleek-enhancer, volume spray and heat protection and then have to run the whole, processed thing through a straightener! Do you feel me? Ok, so take a deep breath and calm yourself (and that hair) because I may have found the product we've all been waiting for! I present to you the Russian Amber Imperial Shampoo by Philip B. This shampoo gives you your best hair. If you have flat, limp hair, it adds body and shine. Frizziness and fly-aways driving you crazy? Instant sleek. It has been called the "Fountain of Youth" for hair and leaves your tresses looking hydrated, beautiful and at it's best for up to 2-3 days longer! This means more time in the morning for breakfast... or do what I do and stay under the covers until the last moment! Granted that this shampoo is pricey at $140 for a small bottle, you'll be saving by not having to buy other hair enhancing products! Save it as a special occasion treat and really top off your look with a great head of shiny, healthy, enviable hair! There's also a conditioner counterpart and other great (and cheaper!) hair products from Philip B. and you can find them at www.philipb.com.

    Price: $140

Hot In The Hive: Oribe 24K Gold Hair Pomade

    image

When it comes to done-up beauty and hair, it's all about looking expensive, whether or not it actually cost you an arm and a leg to look that way. Even in a tight economy like this one, we can't help but splurge on a salon haircut and blow-dry, perfectly manicured nails and toes, and whichever new beauty gadget comes out to help replicate that professionally-done look at home. And now famed hairstylist Oribe has come up with the ultimate way to look like a million bucks -- literally? The 24K Gold Pomade is actually made from crushed gold (in fact, it looks like golden goo-glitter) and serves almost as "makeup" for your hair, giving you shimmering gold highlights (which the creator admits will gild your clothing if you're not careful) while helping you style and providing moisture and UV protection to your luminescent locks. While this product is certainly healthier for your hair, it definitely doesn't seem like it's for the demure. Make sure you're prepared to stand out in a seriously shimmery way before you start going Midas all over your mane.

    Price: $49
