Father's Day Gifts For The Dad Who Has Everything

    image
Ida Hsiang on Jun 16, 2009 10:22 AM PDT
If buying my mom a good Mother's Day gift was challenging, buying a Father's Day gift is nearly impossible! Already, there is a sharp decrease in the amount of beauty products, jewelry, apparel and fragrances that are marketed for men. My dad already has everything that he wants and if he doesn't have it, it probably means he can't afford it and if he can't afford it, I definitely can't! So year after year, right about now, I start racking my brains for something that is cool, unique and re-usable. After extensive research and many tiring hours of online shopping, I have come up with a list for myself as well as anyone else who has a hard father to shop for. From the quirky but practical, like a front-pocket wallet to help relieve dad's back stress and deter pick-pockets or a sweet and sentimental personalized photo night-light, you'll be able to find something for you dad who has everything! Your dad would probably buy you the moon if he could. Well, you can beat him to it and buy him an acre of celestial land, complete with a deed and documents! Workaholics, wine aficionados, gourmet gardeners and all those in between, check out this slideshow for some original Father's Day gifts that your doting dad is sure to love!

Father's Day Gifts For The Gourmet Foodie

Father's Day may be on June 21, but it's never too early to starting thinking about what to give him. Is he the kind of dad whose favorite room in the house is the kitchen? Does he like to try out new recipes or know exactly which wine to pair with each dish? Then forget the tie tacks or golf clubs, your foodie father would love something that would appeal to his gourmet taste. If he already has his dream grill and you can't pry him out of the deck on nice days, then consider getting him a monogram steak brand and carving board that will have him feeling even prouder about his grilling abilities. And if he likes to kick back and enjoy a nice cold beer, maybe he should consider making his own beer with a homebrew kit. Check out my slideshow for more gift ideas for dads who like to enjoy the finer things in life.

Hot In The Hive: Fran's Smoked Salt Caramels

What is the "perfect" chocolate-caramel? What are we looking for when it comes to finding and loving the ultimate sweet-tooth treat? Many times, in the middle of a hectic day, i just need a little pick-me-up, a bite of sugary happiness to make me smile again and sustain me for the last bit of a tiring day. My relationship with chocolate is one that a man will never begin to understand or replace. Just like my taste in men, I have standards when it comes to my taste in chocolate and not any kind will do. Any chocolate that is too weak or cheap or that carries to many fillers and "excess baggage" will not garner a second chance. When it comes to both, I can't stand anything too sweet. I like a little edge and personality. I have yet to find the perfect man, but I may have found the perfect chocolate treat! Fran's Chocolates best-seller is the grey or smoked salt caramel. It is buttery, soft caramel coated in a creamy coat of fine milk or dark chocolate and topped with just a sprinkle of grey or smoked salt. The salt does not overpower, but instead, subtly brings out the individual flavors of the chocolate and caramel. Originating from Seattle, Washington, Fran now has stores in both Bellevue and Seattle. Not in the area? No worries! Begin the best long-distance relationship you'll ever have and have these salty-sweet chocolate-covered caramels delivered right to your front-step!

    Price: $24.00 for a box of 20

Tantalize Your Tastebuds This Valentine's Day With Gourmet ...

Let's face it, every woman I know loves chocolates. Even the ones who say they don't like it really do like it (I've seen them at parties surreptitiously going after the chocolate fountain!) Guys, listen up. If you're looking for a last minute no-fail gift for your better half, then go for a nice box of chocolates. Whatever you do, please don't get a beat up box from the local drug store. Show a little more thought and consideration in your selection. If she's a die hard sushi lover then take a look at this super clever box of sushi-shaped chocolates! They've made guava to look like tuna and papaya to mimic salmon eggs. It definitely gives meaning to the saying: "looks too good to eat." Or take a walk on the wild side with a faux tiger fur topped box with premium chocolate by Christopher Norman. Need more ideas?
