Style Flashback: Buffy From "Buffy The Vampire Slayer"

    image
Alex Gambardella on Nov 2, 2009 5:23 AM PST
Goth never looked quite as good as it did on Sarah Michelle Gellar as "Buffy the Vampire Slayer." She kicked some serious butt with some serious style. Buffy rocked black and leather like nobody's business, and the sultry bad-girl look she sported on the show landed her one of the hottest vampires on the small screen (we love you, Angel). We wanted some tips on how to re-create Buffy's look, and Lemondrop's fashion expert Brian answered the call. Brian says, "Buffy was edgy without being too over the top; sexy without showing too much skin -- and that's the reason she was always so stylin'. She straddled the line between kick-ass vampire slayer and regular teenager by mixing textures and styles to create a unique, am-I-dangerous-or-not look." Click over to Lemondrop to see how you can update her iconic 90s look.

New York Fashion Week Runway: Yigal Azrouel Makes Way For ...

Israeli-born Yigal Azrouel is known for his signature body hugging silhouettes that make any woman feel sexy and sophisticated. His Fall 2009 collection is no different, but with a tougher edge. From legging-like leather stovepipe pants to effortless draped jersey dresses with exposed zippers and pin-studded handbags and pumps, Azrouel walked the line between edgy and feminine. One of my favorite looks was an all black ensemble with a sleeveless leather-like shirt paired with pencil skirt made of leather paillettes. Azrouel collaborated with jewelry Pamela Love who contributed claw earrings, leather and beaded cuffs, and cage rings. Beauty looks to emulate next fall include sleek hair (no flyaways or split ends in sight!) and extreme smoky charcoal eyes with nude lips. New York Fashion Week Runway: Charlotte Ronson Delivers A ...

For fall 2009, Charlotte Ronson brought a bunch of fabulous fashion elements to one place. The collection started off very futuristic and edgy and a bit goth with lots of black, leather, biker jackets, and bondage shoes. The rough styles soon gave way to softer, more wearable ones with floaty chiffon, floral prints, plaid, chunky knits, and fun day dresses. Some looks were soft and sweet, some were retro and 70's inspired, and others were scandalously sexy-- especially the fierce corseted number. Overall, this eclectic show was jam packed with something for everyone.

Heavy Metal: Chain Necklaces Are Still Hot!

    image
Pauline Montupet on Jan 19, 2009 5:17 AM PST
When it comes to jewelry, especially chains and anything with a rocker edge, I have a tendency to think more is more. Well, apparently I'm not the only one! Layered necklaces have been taken to a whole new level. Givenchy showed about a million little chain necklaces layered over a sleek pantsuit, but these necklaces don't have to be only for your goth moments-- they're perfect for spicing up a regular white t-shirt and jeans or even a prim and proper dress. Throw out the old thinking that you have to take off a piece of jewelry before you leave the house-- instead, add more! Layer on some of your own chains for a heavy metal look, or remix an old chain belt into a necklace. My absolute favorite jewelry designer, Justin Giunta for Subversive Jewelry, does chain necklaces like no one else. These messy, pre-layered necklaces are an amazing mix of chains and found objects that won't weigh you down! Check out the slideshow for options with prices ranging from budget to bank-breaking!

Take A Bite Out Of The "Twilight" Frenzy!

    image
    Dino-Ray Ramos on Nov 21, 2008 6:19 PM PST
Twilight fans are in a rabid frenzy this week because the movie based on Stephenie Meyer's four book series about a ho-hum accident-prone girl (Into the Wild's Kristen Stewart) who falls in love with a vampire (Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire's Robert Pattinson €“ if you haven't heard of him, you will be seeing him on magazine covers soon) is out in theaters today! Together they build a codependent relationship of teenage angst and emo-immortality. As said, the fans of this series are rabid. Case in point: look up the small riot that erupted when Pattinson made an appearance at a Hot Topic in San Francisco. The store that made goth and punk household names is the source for all Twilight fanatics. From "Team Edward" and "Team Jacob" shirts (this makes more sense if you read the books) to pins and key chains of your favorite characters, the store has all you need to look like an obsessive fan €“ and there is no shame in that. I am wearing my Twilight hoodie right now.
