You know you've reached the height of inner and outer beauty when you're honored by the likes of Glamour Magazine as one of their proclaimed Women Of The Year. The annual event, which honors twelve women of all ages and walks of life, took place at New York City's Carnegie Hall for its 2009 edition. Among its impressive array of honorees were Rihanna and Amy Poehler, who seemed humble to be in one another's presence, yet looked equally fabulous upon arrival! After all, if you're going to be in the company of such iconic women as Maya Angelou and Maria Shriver, the least you can do is be on your style A-game! Lending fellow ladies their support were supermodel Iman and Katharine McPhee, who were also gorgeous in their evening attire... but they can't all be deemed best dressed! Vote below on which lady took the fashion lead! Photo Credit: PR Photos

What Fashion Insiders Think Of Glamour's Plus-Size Model

    image
The Frisky on Sep 1, 2009 5:23 AM PDT
We told you all about how much positive response Glamour magazine has received from readers for the image of a nude plus-size model featured in the September issue. Lizzie Miller has since appeared on "Today" and copies of the magazine are selling out. Catherine wondered whether the overwhelmingly positive response would result in magazines, and the fashion industry, finally recognizing that beauty comes in a variety of shapes and sizes and that they would start featuring more models like Miller on a regular basis. The Sartorialist's Scott Schuman wrote on his blog, "When I am shooting on the street older women and larger size women often say 'no' to my request to shoot them... I think they have a real suspicion about how the image will be used. I also think there continues to be a growing disconnect between the fashion community and 'average' women in general."

Steal Scarlett Johansson's Old Hollywood Glam Makeup Look!

    image
Pauline Montupet on Oct 27, 2008 4:19 PM PDT
Like many young celebs, Scarlett Johansson may be just as famous for her dangerous curves and her sexy look as she is for her movie roles. What sets her look apart from the rest of the sex kitten young starlet pack is her well-crafted old Hollywood glamour look that tiptoes the fine line between sultry and classy. Want to emulate her look? It's pretty easy as long as you have the right tools, and some restraint- a little too much blush and eye liner and you can go from red carpet to street corner faster than you can say Vicky Cristina Barcelona. Start with a foundation primer to keep skin oil-free all day and your foundation in place. Use a smooth matte foundation and a neutral peachy blush like NARS "orgasm." Keeping the eyes light is key with a darker lip- Scarlett manages to work a smoky eye by using a bronze eye shadow as opposed to a gray or black. The piece de resistance of the look- a semi-matte red lip. Line the outside of lips with a reverse lip liner to keep lipstick from bleeding and then apply the best red lipstick around, Lipstick Queen's "Red Sinner." Copy Scar-Jo's 1940's look for a night on the town or a pared-down version with a sexy pencil skirt at work. See how you can get Scarlett's look in my slideshow!

Wonderbra and Dita von Teese have just unveiled a retro-inspired line of lingerie that's guaranteed to seduce! Dita explains that wearing her collection is a "wonderful way to seduce yourself€¦ which is ultimately a glamour girl€™s best strategy in seducing others!" The collection comes in three styles: Spot-Teese features a casino chip motif in nude with a sexy, sheer black tulle overlay. Multi-Teese has straps be arranged in a number of different ways and magnetic closures for (ahem) quick release, and Satine-Teese mixes vintage styling with Wonderbra know-how. Dita's collection with Wonderbra is available across Europe and will be available for purchase online at the end of September. Dita herself starred in the latest Wonderbra ad where she transforms from a mousy scientist to a pinup diva. Watch the video and find out how!

Stylehiver Spotlight: She Loves Cranberry Red and 1930's Glam

Meet Stylehiver cpc. She's a mom, a wife, a fashion design student who hopes to have her own line of knitwear someday, and her favorite color to wear is cranberry red. She is also an active Hiver with an impressive eye for beautifully created designs. Some of her style weaknesses? Structured coats, short dresses, bold silver jewelry, and anything with a splash of 1930's glamour. Her Hive is packed with an eclectic mixture of styles ranging from Elie Saab couture to diamond encrusted skull pendants. But out of all of cpc's fashion finds, I was most impressed with the collection of military coats and early 1900's-inspired dresses that I discovered in her Hive. So be sure to check out cpc's artsy-eclectic style - and also check out my Slideshow of some of my fave vintage-inspired dresses and military jackets straight from her Hive!
