Video Style Steal: Carrie Underwood's Boots Walk All Over ...

    image
Alex Gambardella on Nov 5, 2009 10:25 AM PST
Carrie Underwood has come a long way since her "small-town girl with the big voice" image on American Idol. Lucky for that image of hers, she's ditched the demure deer-in-headlights look and swapped it for an assertive attitude to match her sultry voice. I guess a load of confidence is easy to come by when you have a series of hit singles and Chace Crawford as your former arm-candy! Speaking of exes, in her latest video for "Cowboy Casanova," Carrie hits the saloon looking retro-fabulous to warn girls about a bad boy's particularly womanizing ways... and shows him a thing or two! Don't forget -- Halloween is officially in the dust, so don't go full-on saloon girl when you try this look. Instead, stick to inspired pieces like a bustier dress, cute leather booties, and feather accents that only hint at Carrie's costume-y video. Watch the video, and then check out the slideshow to see how you can go western without looking like you stepped out of a time machine.

Halloween Costume Pieces And Accessories You Can Actually ...

In your quest for the ultimate Halloween costume this year, you have a few options. For one, you can spend $60+ on a kitschy packaged costume that at least 10 other people will also be wearing... and chances are you'll never touch it again. Secondly, you can go the clever route and piece together your own costume.. and after a dozen trips to a handful of stores and hundreds of dollars later, you'll have the best Halloween ensemble ever... that you'll probably never touch again. But the most appealing option? Door number 3: piece together your own super-cool costume from stylish pieces that you'll actually wear way more than once! Even the most wearable trends are largely inspired by very costume-y themes: gladiator, biker, cowgirl, etc, so why not be resourceful and concoct up a costume while making a fashionable investment in the process? Channel a retro-chic flapper girl with a fringe miniskirt that can translate to a very modern night on the town, or don a sequin blazer for a cabaret/showgirl-type look that will be still be way "in" in the months to come. For more costume ideas featuring wardrobe pieces that will still be trendy even after the 31st, take a look at the slideshow!

Whether you're tackling midterms or quarter finals this week, impatiently crossing off the calendar days in anxious anticipation of Spring Break, or just trying to trudge through another tough few days at the office, it can be a struggle to work up the motivation every morning to keep your fingers off the snooze button and get ready to give your all to everything you'll attempt throughout the day. With all the to-do's piling up on your plate, it might seem frivolous to take out extra time from your agenda or precious sleep schedule to plan out the perfect ensemble, footwear included; after all, whatever you grab off your closet floor in the dim wee hours of the dawn will suit you just fine. However, haven't you ever noticed how looking great, feeling confident head-to-toe, and even just feeling excited about a new pair of shoes just boosts your overall mood and makes your optimism go through the roof? That's right, I'll say it -- a stylish pair of shoes can save the day! Whether your week is best suited for some smart flats like Virgos, a practical pair of tennies for speedy Sagittariuses, or a killer pair of platforms for ultimate attention-getting Aquariuses, you're destined to find that putting a little extra thought into what you tread in will not only make you look amazing, but will also help you be armed and ready for whatever hoops you'll have to jump through or obstacles you'll have to sidestep in the days ahead. Check the slideshow to see what the stars have in store for you and your feet this week!

Your dear old Auntie may have told you that the road to hell is paved with good intentions. The Cringe Diary would like to think that the road to hell is paved with bad taste. Of course we think fashion should be fun, daring, and expressive, but there is a big fat line between the stylish and the tawdry. The following is a recap of the most cringe-worthy summer fashion trends for 2008. Let's hope they don't rear their ugly little heads ever again, and in the meantime, tell us...
