Hot In The Hive: Pac-Man Plug-And-Play Joystick

If you've ever wolfed down an entire pepperoni pie by yourself just for an excuse to hang out at the local pizzeria and beat those kids' scores on the ancient Galaga machine (okay, maybe that's just me), have I got the gadget for you! This super-retro Pac-Man joystick literally looks like it was jacked straight out of the arcade and modernized to fit conveniently on your lap or coffee table. Just pop in some batteries and plug the device into your TV and you instantly have a long night ahead of you in old school gamer girl heaven. With 12 classic arcade games in one compact console, you can officially save the trip to the pizza joint (and the calories that inevitably come with it) and you can geek out in the privacy and convenience of your own home (unless, of course, you want to invite the whole building over for a tournament).

Hot In The Hive: PS3 Slim

Good news, gamer girls. The Sony Playstation 3 has undergone a fabulous makeover. The PS3 Slim, available now for pre-order from various online retailers, is not only slimmer (and thus more space-saving and more portable), but cheaper and greener too, using 34% less power than the original model. I'm not sure if remodeling itself to more closely resemble the Wii will give it equally stellar sales as its skinny competitor cousin, but the lower price will be sure to send gamers to the store who were once thwarted by the intimidating price tag. While the system has reportedly been spotted at select Best Buy stores already (hmm, mysterious), it doesn't officially hit the shelves until September 1st.

I enjoy the Wii very much. It really is the future of gaming. My brother bought me the Nintendo DS for my birthday. I'd like to think that I am at least staying relatively current on new games and gaming consoles. I would never call myself a gamer - true gamers may try to hurt me with flying turtle shells - but I grew up with SEGA and Nintendo. I have a younger brother and a family on a budget so we had to share many toys. This led to a childhood bereft of Barbies and My Little Ponies and one full of uni-sex toys like Legos, boardgames, and eventually, video games. Wario and Waluigi, for as long as they've been around, are still considered "new" members of the Mario family in my mind! Now that I'm all grown-up, I can't spend my days worrying about coins and mushrooms and evil nemeses. But, there is still that child inside that likes to make an appearance every so often. The best way for a little girl all grown up to show her gaming side? Jewelry, of course! Obviously, I'm not the only one with nostalgic childhood memories of Mario, Kirby and magic mushrooms! Check out the slide-show for a great variety of awesome, wearable gaming jewelry and accessories and let your inner child out!
