Halloween Costume Pieces And Accessories You Can Actually ...

    image
Alex Gambardella on Oct 19, 2009 2:23 PM PDT
In your quest for the ultimate Halloween costume this year, you have a few options. For one, you can spend $60+ on a kitschy packaged costume that at least 10 other people will also be wearing... and chances are you'll never touch it again. Secondly, you can go the clever route and piece together your own costume.. and after a dozen trips to a handful of stores and hundreds of dollars later, you'll have the best Halloween ensemble ever... that you'll probably never touch again. But the most appealing option? Door number 3: piece together your own super-cool costume from stylish pieces that you'll actually wear way more than once! Even the most wearable trends are largely inspired by very costume-y themes: gladiator, biker, cowgirl, etc, so why not be resourceful and concoct up a costume while making a fashionable investment in the process? Channel a retro-chic flapper girl with a fringe miniskirt that can translate to a very modern night on the town, or don a sequin blazer for a cabaret/showgirl-type look that will be still be way "in" in the months to come. For more costume ideas featuring wardrobe pieces that will still be trendy even after the 31st, take a look at the slideshow!

Dressing In Nude From Head To Toe

There is nothing more chic than dressing in one tone from head to toe. It used to be all black, but spring's new fresh trend is head to toe nude. Soft neutrals dominated the runways in the spring shows. Chloe and Stella McCartney's shows were both an ode to pale flesh tones, Donna Karan gave us warm nudes that evoke suntans and sandy beaches, even the man of darkness Riccardo Tisci for Givenchy showed beige clothing and buttery pale leather accessories. Wear the look head to toe with a sexy Jay Godfrey fringe dress and a pair of nude booties; top it all off with an ivory or nude sweater. But if you're feeling more adventurous beat the evening chill with the leather jacket in a non-traditional nude. Madison Marcus' 'Anthem' jacket would finish of the look perfectly or look great over a black outfit for just a touch of nude. Pale accessories are also a great way to dabble in the trend; nude or beige shoes give your legs that long endless look. A light handbag is a nice alternative and just as versatile as black or brown. Go a little or go all the way, but whatever you do, make sure you have a few nude pieces in your spring wardrobe. Click the slideshow to see everything you need to go nude for spring.

Winter To Spring Wardrobe Transitions Made Easy!

I don't know about you, but I hate shopping for warm weather clothes when it's still freezing out. Shopping for spring and summer clothes just doesn't have the same appeal when I know I can't wear them immediately! If you're in the same boat as I am, keeping reading because I've figured out some easy ways to bring your current winter wardrobe into spring. For starters, take a look at this cashmere sweater dress. Wear a t-shirt and tights under the dress for a winter look and then bare your arms and legs come spring time! A zebra print cardigan is a great layering piece for the chilly weather, yet also makes a great lightweight outerwear piece during the hot months of summer. Black Friday may not be an official US holiday, but so many people have the day off that it may as well be! Of course, most folks won't be heading to parks or beaches or any of those other normal vacation spots. Nope, on Black Friday, fashionistas all over the country will be hitting the malls, the boutiques, and the shopping plazas along with a few bazillion other people. Not me though. This year I've decided to relax at home with a good cup of coffee and get a headstart on Cyber Monday. And why not? With so many great online vintage boutiques, there's no reason to battle the crowds. Just take a look at this collection of Black Friday finds and you may be inspired to trade in your car keys and start punching computer keys. Just click the slideshow to see the selections.
