Hot In The Hive: Purse Flats!

    image
Alex Gambardella on Nov 3, 2009 6:22 AM PST
Who says you need to sacrifice quality for comfort? Purse Flats are comfy portable shoes that fold up neatly into a cute accompanying clutch to salvage stiletto-sore feet on the dance floor, out on the town, or even during long meetings at work. Since they've been spotted on Mya during her "Dancing With The Stars" rehearsals, you gotta figure they must be pretty comfortable, not to mention sturdy! Sure, they're not as affordable as the vending machine Rollasole version, but a portion of the proceeds is donated to support underprivileged youth! Plus, since I have yet to find a shoe dispenser at any club I've been to, Purse Flats sound like a pretty dependable alternative on the go!

Price: $240, includes purse & flats

The Hottest Over-The-Knee Boots For Fall

    image

So what if you're not Sienna, Paris, Gwen, Heidi, or Hayden? You can look just as hot by scaling your stems like they do with the tallest pair of boots you can find. Whether you're sporting a short skirt or a pair of skinny jeans, some over-the-knees or thigh highs are the perfect way to warm your legs this fall. Although our budgets couldn't get us the same shoes that our favorite celebrities rock, it's still possible to get this look that's become trademark of some of our favorite female stars. Unlike our cowboy and ankle boots, these boots are capable of flashing an intriguing slice of skin when paired with short bottoms-- and showing less skin can often be sexier as it leaves the curves of your legs to the viewer's imagination. However, like our other closet companions, you can make a casual or formal step in tall flat boots or a high-heeled pair. Find a look that works for you in the slideshow!

This Season's Hottest Shoes Mix Leather And Lace

As if you need any new additions to your "Shoes I Must Have NOW" list, the latest invasion of sexy footwear is more flirty than ever. Lace details, cut-outs, and overlays are popping up everywhere, in both high-end and affordable brands, from demure J. Crew ballet flats to seriously fierce peep-toe booties by Stuart Weitzman. While lace and leather may more commonly conjure up visions of risque lingerie, and let's face it -- those see-through excuses for lace pants are better suited as a doily than on an actual person (unless you're Lady GaGa), lace-embellished shoes are hot because they bring a certain sexiness without making you feel exposed. After all, a little peep-toe peepshow never hurt anyone! Check out the slideshow for some of the my favorite lacy shoes!

    CollegeCandy Wishlist: Adidas Ballerina Sneaker-Flats

    image

I love flats. I practically wear them every day and to all occasions. I can't even remember what I used to wear before I started slipping on those cute and comfy babies. Wait, yes I do. It was sneakers (love my Chucks), but I had to find something else after I realized that old school Nikes are not acceptable for all occasions. Like job interviews. And now Adidas has taken my two favorite forms of footwear and morphed them into one mega shoe: the Gazelle Ballerina. Not to quote Miley Cyrus or Hannah Montana or whoever she chooses to be today, but you do get the best of both worlds with these shoes. Revel in the cuteness and convenience of a flat and the stylishness and comfort of a sneaker with its rubber outsole for added support. So if, like the Spice Girls, you've got a little Posh and a little Sporty to ya, these shoes are your perfect match. And if you find yourself running from parties when campus security shows up, these are probably right for you too. It's the girls in stilettos who always get caught. Hit up CollegeCandy for more cute footwear finds!

Going To Fashion Week? Be Ready With Our Survival Kit!

The New York Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2010 shows are almost here! Before we jump head-first into runway reviews, model sightings, the clothes, and everything else that makes fashion week what it is, we thought we'd bring you a little survival kit to help you through what is sure to be an exciting week! Whether you're from NYC or crashing on your cousin's couch for the week, or there for work or just tagging along for a few shows, there are a few key items you'll want to have on hand (and foot) to help you through the insanity.

Flip flops or flats. This sounds obvious but unless you plan on shelling out cab fare multiple times (or have a high pain threshold), you'll want to have a pair of flip flops or flats on hand. Whatever you do, don't wear your flip flops in the tents- switch them outside! One more blister is a trivial thing when there are aspiring street style photographers snapping shots right and left.

Camera. Again, obvious, but bring your charger or an extra battery. Camera dying mid-show = instant mood killer.

Food. Toss a baggie of almonds or dried fruit in your bag, because there isn't much in the way of food in the tents (so surprising, I know). This will keep you from stalking the people handing out samples of LU biscuits, and making return trips to the M&M booth, and the other booth with the mini macarons, and... okay, clearly I have no shame when it comes to freebies.

Brogues And Oxfords Get Flirty And Feminine!

    image
Alex Gambardella on Aug 26, 2009 10:22 AM PDT
Taking items that are typically associated with menswear and making them feminine is no novel idea when it comes to modern day fashion. We've seen it in every context from sexy tailored suits on the red carpet to boyfriend blazers on your average night out on the town. However, the latest trend in menswear-gone-girlie is here to serve as a welcome addition to your shoe collection, just in time for fall. Brogues and oxfords, though traditionally men's dress shoes, have certainly been worn by the ladies before... just not nearly as fashionably or with the same feminine edge as the latest styles provide! Studs, cut-outs, and bright colors vamp up the normally conservative-looking shoe, making them far more chic than what you'd stereotypically find worn by a butler. True, the whole idea of open toes and modern embellishments sort of negates the very definition of a brogue, but hey -- with modifications this cute, we won't toss them based on a silly technicality! Check the slideshow for some of my favorite oxford-inspired pairs!
