These earrings are new pieces for Fall '09. I hand-fabricated them using elongated oval-shaped smooth carnelian gemstones, and sterling and fine silver. The stones are bezel-set in fine silver, and is embellished by sterling silver. The stone is a deep orange color - almost red. They measure 8mm by 22mm. The earrings measure 1 3/4 inches (4.5cm) in length from the tops of the sterling silver ear wires. These earrings have some heft to them, but they are not overly heavy. I now offer niobium or titanium ear wires free of charge for my metal-sensitive customers. The titanium wires are a dark silver color, and the niobium ones are a copper color. I made these sterling silver earrings using traditional metalsmithing techniques, and then I wire-wrapped a single genuine ruby at the bottom of each earring. These rubies are such a rich red color! These earrings measure 14mm across, and 2 1/8 inches (5.6cm) in total length, from the tops of the sterling silver ear wires.
