10 Shoes That Won't Kill Your Feet As You Trek Around Campus

    image

Where I went to school, you could always tell who the freshmen were because they foolishly showed up to the first day of class in heels. They may have looked cute (especially before they packed on the dreaded Freshman 15, ha!) but we upperclassmen knew that by the end of the day they'd be heading to the nearest Walgreens for a family-size pack of band-aids to patch up their abused feet. On a giant campus full of hills and stairs, I learned the hard way that flats were the way to go -- and comfy ones at that. But just because I've had to leave my heels behind for the sake of blister-free soles doesn't mean I dared to give up my sense of shoe-style. You can still stay fashionable in leather peep-toe booties and snazzy sneakers without requiring a first-aid kit by the time you get to class. Check out my favorite selection of back-to-school shoes in the slideshow!

Pamper Those Poor Feet! Our Favorite Foot Care Superstars..

I spent last weekend having fun with my girlfriends in Las Vegas, and while the trip was a huge success, my feet are another story. In fact, the only adjective that comes to mind when I think of the current state of my feet is "mangled." Two very long nights of 5+ inch BCBGirls platform t-straps (so worth the pain!) will do that to you. But limping around in my ballet flats is getting old fast, and now I'm in the market for some serious feet fixer-uppers. Luckily it appears that there is an impressive number of stiletto-lovers in the Hive, because I've been able to find a ton of creams, buffers, wraps, and scrubs all made with the tortured foot in mind. Like this adorable Burt's Bees Pedicure Kit which looks tiny, but is actually packed with pedicure necessities like a pumice stone, coconut foot creme, and an adorable pair of socks to keep your toes cozy and soft. For a thick and creamy foot treatment, look no further than this handcrafted Eucalyptus Oil Shea Butter Foot Cream. It's blended with organic unrefined shea butter and is infused with anti-fungal tee tree oil to make sure feet stay fresh. Your feet deserve a treat! Search the Hive for more foot care superstars, and be sure to check out my SLIDESHOW to see my favorite items!

Since you€™ll be stuffing your feet into boots for six months come November, why not have a little more toe-action with the latest crop of peep-toes, while you can? And you don€™t even have to switch your bright toenail polish€”this season is about breaking rules, after all. Check out the SLIDESHOW to see em!

    Beauty Buzz: Work Those Toes

    image

I'm sure you guys have heard about YogaToes, and if you're like me, you've probably been wondering "what the€¦..?" I've had this strange fascination with them where they make me simultaneously scared and curious, wondering what are these strange jelly-like contraptions that look like they should be used for a pedicure? So I ordered myself a pair to see what they were all about. The idea is that it's like exercise for your toes so you prevent situations like hammertoes and bunions. No, I don't have either, but I do find myself in stiletto heels more often than not and thought a little exercise for my footsies couldn't hurt. The verdict: they are fabulous! They work your toes so they just end up looking healthier, just like they say, exercise for your toes, except you don't have to do anything! Anyone else use them? If so, let me know in comments!

Summer Style: 11 Classic Canvas Sneakers

Now and Then is one of those classic girls-coming-of-age movies. Most of the action takes place in the 1970s, so actresses Christina Ricci, Thora Birch, Gaby Hoffmann, and Ashleigh Aston Moore got to wear some pretty sweet clothes. (I hope I€™m not the only one to think cut-off jean shorts, plaid shirts, and the most basic sneakers ever are awesome.) Exchange your usual flip-flops for canvas sneaks, and channel your favorite of the four girls€”I€™m a Samantha (Gaby Hoffmann). Check out the SLIDESHOW for 11 of my favorites!
