    Influential International Style: Emma Watson

    image
kate napleton on May 14, 2009 10:18 AM PDT
Knowing full-well that she could take advantage of an Invisibility Cloak at any given moment, Emma Watson's status as a rising international style icon is even more impressive. The Harry Potter star is all grown up, and as the new face of the House of Chanel, is rumored to also be replacing Keira Knightley as the face of Burberry. How does a wizard rise to a style queen seemingly overnight? By choosing classic shapes, flattering neutrals, and always looking age appropriate. Whether it's a risk of length or a gorgeous backless gown, there is always a little something extra to Emma Watson's red carpet looks. Also catapulting her into success? Refusing to follow makeup trends and instead choosing flattering shimmers, and backing it all up with a classic updo or soft waves for a hairstyle. Elle's Fall A To Zee Trends: Mad for Plaid

Nothing says that fall is here quite like plaid. In rich reds, tartan greens and yes, an occasional yellow, plaid is a welcome ingredient into any autumn outfit. The best way to own this trend is to mix elements of plaid into your outfit - like a plaid scarf with your regular jeans and t-shirt combo (with your favorite fall boots, natch). For a bolder look, try one of the many fabulous plaid dresses and jackets available this fall. Dress it up with gold accessories or dress it down with a short sleeve t-shirt underneath! For a look that's cozy by day and chic by night, try Urban Outfitters' plaid flannel dress- at just $68, you can splurge on a pair of chunky heels or boots. Check out Elle's A to Zee Trends to see Joe Zee's picks, and click on our SLIDESHOW to see some examples of this trend, straight from the Hive.

BagTrends Dishes On Elliott Lucca, Free Handbags And What's ...

This bag has been bothering me for months! Every season, Elliott Lucca and The Sak (both owned by the same company, The Sak) have a media preview in their Manhattan showroom. Back in May, I previewed the Fall/Holiday 2008 collections and fell in love with Elliott Lucca 'Catina' Drawstring Bucket Bag in lilac. I'm not a drawstring kind of bagista, but I couldn't help being drawn to the sophistication of this bag. The flat base gives it a nice, semi-structured build. The studded leather diamonds and pieced-together leather design add an art-deco feel. This drawstring exudes a matured, version of the free-spirited, downtown hipster. She's older, has a professional life and wants to marry her casual spirit with her new position in life.
So here was my dilemma. At the end of each appointment, I'm allowed to pick any bag I want €“ amazing, I know. I wanted so badly to pick this bag, but I couldn't help but go for the familiar. I ended up taking a brown satchel from this very collection €“ same pieced together leather and diamond studs. Fast forward to August when this collection hit the stores. Darn it! I really wish I took this bag. I will now purchase it because I'm so obsessed. You will be, too. Not only is the design, as I mentioned so phenomenal, but I have good reason to believe that the drawstring will become a key silhouette in seasons to come!

    Steal Fergie's G-L-A-M Rock Look!

Last Friday Fergie presented a check to the Joe DiMaggio Children's Hospital at the Seminole Hard Rock Cafe in Hollywood, Florida. Before signing a guitar for the charity, the former Black-Eyed Peas singer showed off her rock n' roll roots in a gold-plated brown leather belt over a fuchsia jewel-toned sateen top and black jeans for a put-together but still casual evening look. Curious as to how you can work this "Glamorous" style into your closet? Check out my slideshow and find out how you can get her look for yourself.
