  This late 1940's dress in black moiré-patterned faille fabric is perfectly pretty from the front, with flattering princess seaming, a wide neckline, slit cap sleeves and a full skirt. The real excitement however, is located on the back of the dress: an adorable, big ivory satin bow at the waist, with matching satin flounces to the hem. Hidden behind the bow is a center back metal zipper. The dress is unlined and shown here without a crinoline, although it could be worn with one as well. Bust: 34" Waist: 26" (with darts taken back in will be 24") Hip: free Length: 40"

  Vintage 80s GRES BOUTIQUE Black Silk Blouson Dress

  In doing research about this dress, I found that dresses by Mme. Grès are almost impossible to find. This dress dates to the mid 1980’s and is from her Grès Boutique line. This was probably from one of her last collections before the label went bankrupt in 1987. Fashioned of soft and fluid silk faille, the dress has an oversized blouson bodice that is slightly gathered into a fitted waist. The sleeves have a deep dolman cut and there are shoulder pads. The slim fitted skirt is also slightly gathered onto the waist. The dress closes with an Eclair fine metal zipper at the side from waist to hip. There are 3 buttons and loops above the zipper. The dress is completely lined in black China silk. Labeled size 40, the bodice is meant to be very loose fitting. This dress would look great belted, but there is no belt, nor is there any indication that there ever was one.

The sleeves are cut in one piece with the bodice and have gussets at the underarms. The straight cut skirt has a set of knife pleats that come down from the waist and a back kick pleat. Dress closes with a back metal zipper. The only remaining label is for size.

  Black Rayon Faille Suit

  Stunning black rayon faille two piece suit. The cropped Eisenhower style jacket has a pointed collar and fourteen fabric covered loop buttons down the front. The shoulders are padded, the three quarter length sleeves are cut in one piece with the bodice and the cuff has a tab with a decorative button. The skirt has a flat front and plenty of drama in the back….it hangs one and half inches longer and fans our with the flaring gores. Skirt closes with a side metal zipper. Only the Jacket is lined. One sleeve has some scratches to the fabric, they are noticeable depending on how the light hits it.
