Facial and spa treatments that we used to get at our favorite salon are now becoming more and more readily available in at-home versions.

One such beauty product that's effective and super simple to DIY is the facial mask. Whether it comes in mask or peel form, the facial mask is a quick way to rectify any skin type. You just have to know what to look for!

Well, that's where we come in. Check out our tips for the best type of facial mask for different skin types, then click on the slideshow to see some of our favorites!

Normal Skin - This is a simple one! For you, a facial mask should just be for maintenance and prevention. Look for moisturizing face masks chock full of vitamin C or anti-oxidants. Apply a face mask once every 2 weeks.

Oily Skin - Look for a clay mask or a facial peel that will mattify and control shine. Steer clear of anything that's super moisturizing as this can lead to even more shine. Try a mask once a week for optimum results!

Dry Skin - A facial mask once a week can do wonders for dry skin. Look for options that have vitamin E and are highly moisturizing. A quick tip for a little added hydration? Smooth on a dime sized amount of night cream after your done with the facial mask!

Beauty Pick Me Up - Be A Saviour To Your Skin

Many of us are enjoying the beauty of a pristine white winter and feeling the nip in the air. And with us all in the midst of the holiday spirit, there's bound to be visits with family and friends full of cheer ... and stress!

While these times are exciting, they can also be the most filled with tension and anxiety, then add the cold winds and dry weather and our skin is facing quite an ordeal! Prevent minor breakouts and fine lines at the same time with just a few easy steps.

Pamper your skin and give yourself a winter make-over, making sure that your face has a natural, dewy glow even on the chilliest, harshest days of the year!

Exfoliate - Scrub away dead skin cells and rejuvenate your face with a gentle exfoliator. Look for a product with micro-beads and make gentle circles when using. Also limit frequency to once a week for more sensitive skin types.

Brightening Serum - Apply a thin layer of a brightening serum to help protect skin and give it an extra boost of nutrients. This will help keep skin moist and further prevent fine lines!

Day Cream + SPF - Yeah, it's winter, but it's important to protect our delicate skin from harmful UV rays at all times. Opt for a day cream with at least 15 spf and that also has a thicker consistency to keep skin soft and supple throughout the day! Also try tinted moisturizers that can give you some coverage without drying powders and cake-y concealers.

Facial Masks - After the nightly cleansing and before the night cream, try applying a facial mask to give skin a super kick of moisture and to counteract all the free radicals and stresses of the day. Steer clear of drying clay masks and look for ones that are moisturizing and full of vitamins and antioxidants. Like exfoliating, a facial mask is only needed about once a week. Just remember to not do it on the same day as exfoliating to avoid irritation!

Of course, a thick night cream also helps give you a rested glow and an eye-cream to help prevent and diminish fine lines is a must. Also try products like a lip balm or all-over salve to keep lips, hands and elbows from chaffing!
