    WhatsWear Trend Alert: Simple Makeup

    image

Today, it is all about going au natural. Gone are the days of heavily done eyes and foundation. Makeup is no longer meant to cover skin, but complement it. Less is more and subtle is the way to go for spring/summer 2010. Instead of dramatic eyes, opt for just mascara and a highlighter in the corners of your eyes for a light and refreshed look. Swap out your foundation for a light bronzer. Heavy makeup will never stand up to the heat. A notable example of trend could be seen on the Miu Miu runway at Paris Fashion week. Models were done up in natural makeup, leaving little to the imagination. They even skipped the bronzer!

It's always hard to dump someone. There are hurt feelings and harsh words, maybe a few tears, definitely some cocktails and desserts smothered in chocolate, caramel, and Oreo cookie crumbles. Well, get out the Edy's, Sephora. Everyone knows that Sephora and I (and Sephora.com) have been going steady since I was 15, but we're currently on the rocks. There's a new makeup store in my life, and its name is BeautyTicket.com. Yup, although Sephora was the love of my life, I just can't control my feelings for this much better beauty stop that recently rocked my world. But it wasn't just a one night fling; this is serious. I'm falling in love. This amazing website carries super great brands like YSL, Smashbox, Stila, Tarte, Urban Decay, and Pop, for up to 85% off. Wow. I'll give you a minute to think about how freakin' amazing that is. I'm talkin' Smashbox wooden 4-shadow/blush palette, originally $45, now $19.00. Turmeric Steps Out Of The Kitchen And Into Your Beauty Kit!

Turmeric has jumped from the kitchen spice rack and onto the bathroom shelf! With its peppery flavor and spicy aroma, what place does it have in your skin creams and cleansers? Aside from its traditional culinary uses, the medical and cosmetic benefits of Turmeric date back to ancient times. It has the powerful ability to brighten the complexion, even out skin tone, get rid of blemishes, and also help protect skin from free radicals and toxins. It's often used as a skin softener in Asia, mixed into a paste with milk cream, sandalwood powder and Rosewater and applied to the body. But forget mixing a home paste! Turmeric is now available in a large variety of new face and body products. Use a skin-brightening polish to take your skin from dull to radiant, or an Indonesian face mask to even out skin tone and draw out impurities. For cleansers to detox supplements and all beauty products in between - check out the slideshow for some Turmeric-based products!

Summer Beauty Picks To Keep You Fresh-Faced And Flawless On ...

Summer weddings are beautiful, with the blue skies, lush greens and thriving flowers. The outdoors are alive-- what a perfect setting to dedicate yourself to your life-long love! Embrace the season and play up summer's zest with a beauty regimen that will put you in steep competition with the ravishing landscape. There are, however, some things to caution with such a fruitful time of year, like the heat that can turn a bride from stunning to sweltering. Oil-free foundations are a must, as are formulas that are light and airy to let your pores breathe. However, sometimes light and airy is synonymous with flaky, non-lasting makeup, so you'll need some of these dependable picks to last you on your ceremony of a lifetime. In the heat of the moment, you'll need a moisturizer first to start off fresh (oil-free of course), followed by a primer to make everything stay all day. A summer wedding is code for flawless skin, so you'll want to play up your skin tone with the some sunshine accents. More importantly, you'll want to brighten up without upstaging your skin with too much color splashing other areas of your face. While you'll want shimmer and bronzer to brighten your base, you won't want to get too bold with autumnal plums or merry reds sprinkled on your eyes and lips. For your eyes, soft summer colors will certainly be staple items in your makeup bag: you'll use those to match your wedding theme's color composition. Don't let the lips overdo the statement your skin is making either by choosing a natural, more matte look that will make your lips a kissably-soft surprise for the leading man. Any color like Stila's Long Wear Lip Color in Darling (Golden Champagne) would be a perfect fit. If you must be bold with color, choose a nail color with some botanical bite. When it's all said and done, the beauty picks in this slideshow will make you an amazing summer queen!
