In the current issue of SewStylish, we highlighted the many inspirations of the talented Anna Maria Horner. Here's a little more from that interview along with photos of her inspirations and new pattern line. We just love the amazing fabric designs from author Anna Maria, and now she has her own pattern line and book available, too. From her very first fabric collection for Free Spirit in 2006, to her current quilting and decor lines for Westminster, Anna Maria always has an original style full of inspiration.

Channel A Part-Time Greek Goddess In A Draped Skirt

The Grecian trend is wonderful. Pieces that borrow from this look are so dignified without being over done. The folds of the fabric and the long, luscious styles - particularly evident in goddess dresses - create a floating, ethereal look. And the styles can range from somewhat casual to elegant and more formal. One of the best ways to incorporate this Grecian detailing into an outfit - without making a major trend commitment - is to utilize one of the strong suits of this style: draping. Even a draped skirt is a good place to start. You may not look quite like you could walk out of the heavens on a cloud but hey - even a goddess needs a break! These skirts tend to be somewhat high waisted and look best with a structured top that's easily tucked in. Consider wearing it with a frilly blouse or even a fitted t-shirt. This look is much more low maintenance than an all-out Grecian-inspired ensemble, but it still easily rises to the occasion! See more on this trend and many others at TheFind.

Designers Joleen Rumsey and Rachel Six of Flutter make finding that unique look super easy. Each of their creations are super colorful and playful. Many of the jackets are made from vintage fabrics that they have upcycled into "modern jackets with a retro flair". The independent designers both love working with soft knits and believe that clothes should make you feel good. We caught up with Joleen and Rachel to ask them more about their funky fashions. Miami Style: Rebecca Virtue Swimwear Embraces Green Fabrics

    image

A few weeks back I was invited to SPLASHION, a runway show featuring Rebecca Virtue swimwear, at the super hip club SET, in SoBe, where a Euro-preppy crowd regularly dances the night away! Becca's bikinis were to die for: super cool styles and colors with metallics, prints, rings and satins, gold cuffs, and newly launched bags and hats. The models were fantastic, with an urban sophistication and a great swing walk, big hair and the must-have glasses. I also found out, speaking to other fans there, that Becs has been using bamboo fabrics and fabric made from soy to show her respect for the environment. Nice! Check out my slideshow and get in line for her 2009 line!

Stylediary Spotlight: Jewels Makes Her Basics Shine

    image

Stylediarist Jewels knows that basics don't look so dull when they're paired correctly. Dressing almost solely in subdued solids, she creates interest by layering and mixing fabric weights and textures. With this knowledge, all of her looks appear styled, effortless and chic. This New Yorker's subtlety allows her to incorporate trends without having her outfits scream to every passerby, "Look at me I'm fashionable!" No two outfits look identical, but this girl certainly has a cemented style; one that if it works for you, could be easy to achieve with a lot of what's already in your closet.
