Tone Down The Shimmer This Season With Matte Grey Makeup Shades

Say so long to pearlescent gunmetal and chromed-out silvers -- matte grey is the hot beauty shade for the chilly season ahead! Matte nails have already taken the beauty world by storm, but now other makeup products are following in hot pursuit! From soft stone gray to rich chalky charcoal, there's something about matte grey that gives the face an unexpected warmer look than the more common frosty silver shades. While I've noticed that grey shadow seems to bring the best out of green peepers, it's hard to find someone who can't pull off a dark slate eyeliner in place of your basic black. Plus, mattifying your lids leaves room for shimmer elsewhere (ie: cheeks or lips) and helps ensure a balance so that your face doesn't end up looking like a shiny disco ball! Watch the slideshow for a series of grey shades to consider adding to your cosmetics collection!

Brighten Up Your Fall Beauty Routine With Yellow Eyeshadow

Bright primary colors and neon shades are perfect for waking up a winter wardrobe, and this trend is making its way into the beauty department as well. Pastel yellow is too weak to stand up to the bold clothing shapes that we're seeing right now-- these yellows are anything but mellow; they're bright, bright, bright. And while they may seem hard to wear, in actuality yellows and golds accent blue and green eyes and bring out the gold flecks in brown eyes. Sweep some over the entire lid for a look that's shiny and bright. Or, take a cue from the Marc Jacobs runways and pair with some smoky black liner for a high contrast look. You can even sweep it on the brow bone and out to the temple. Check out the slideshow for some products to get the look.

Ghoulish And Gorgeous Halloween Makeup To Complete Your Look!

If you're not exactly the most handy with an eyeliner brush, or even if you can't tell the difference between an eyeliner brush or an eyeshadow applicator, you may normally skip past beauty aisles and counters out of fear of the unknown... or the likelihood that you'll end up looking like something out of a horror movie if left to your own devices with a collection of shades. Luckily, Halloween is the one time of year where that look just might work in your favor! Costume makeup doesn't discriminate between the cosmetics-challenged and the beauty adept; even if you're not looking to go out as a drag queen, it can be fairly easy to complement your costume with the right Halloween-appropriate makeup. Dark nail polish is always an easy way to get festive, or take the opportunity to go full-out glam with gilded eye foil. Or if you're really that helpless when it comes to self-beautifying, these wild ColorOn eyeshadow appliques practically do all the work for you! Take a look at the slideshow for some perfect beauty picks to either look frightening or fetching on your night out!

Hot In The Hive: Golden Sparkle Sauce

I know, the name sounds delicious... but you can't eat this sauce! Golden Sparkle Sauce by Pop Beauty comes in what appears to be a puff paint squeeze tube, but it's actually a powerful weapon in maintaining smudge-free eye makeup! The shimmery substance can be applied as a layer on your lid over shadow and liner to seal eye makeup for a twinkling waterproof finish, or it can be mixed with loose glitter or pigment to serve as a long-lasting adhesive for otherwise hard-to-apply loose powder. The result? Budge-proof shadow and liner with a little dash of extra dazzle. Sparkling magic in a bottle!

    Price: $10
Who Found It: xgalexy was the first to add Golden Sparkle Sauce to the Hive.

Indulge Your Chocolate Craving With Matte Mocha Shades

Say "so long" to the shimmering bronze and sandy shades associated with summer beauty. Fall makeup is all about the rich matte shades, reminiscent of a nice warm mug of hot chocolate or your morning mocha. Though neutral matte colors may seem slightly "blah" in comparison to your shimmer dust and glitter eyeliner, these velvety pigments do wonders in warming up your face and skintone when worn alone, and can even be punched up when paired with a touch of gold gloss or highlighter. Go for a softer version of the smokey eye with a dark chocolate shadow, or sweep a rosy mocha sheen on your cheeks for a fall-festive flush. Be careful though, these shades won't only have you tearing up the makeup department -- they'll probably make you want to take a detour to the nearest candy aisle, too. Take a look at the slideshow for some hot chocolate makeup picks!

Wearable Neon Makeup Shades, No Rave Required

While we've thankfully moved past that '90s flashback of fluorescent clothing and accessories, it's important to note that neons haven't been banished from the planet for good -- they've just relocated to the beauty department! I know, the idea sounds terrifying, but used with the right shades and a subtle hand, bright pops of color are an emerging makeup trend that's making feminine features stand out in a feisty, fresh and modern way. While trying to shed her goody-goody Gossip Girl stereotype and make a name for herself as her punk band's frontwoman, Taylor Momsen has been spotted flaunting neon lips and smoky eyes -- but you don't have to be a rock goddess in training to pull it off. Sticking to one feature at a time, you can go with an electric blue eyeliner to make your peepers pop, or highlight your summer tan with contrasting tangerine nails, for example. Take a look at the slideshow for some wearable neon shades!
