The initiative will be an ongoing part of the YOOX site devoted to selling ethically conscious products and reducing the carbon footprint left by shipping orders to customers. In addition to eco-friendly and sustainable products, YOOXYGEN will also showcase designer collaborations, featuring limited edition items for YOOX customers. Think along the lines of fashions from Stella McCartney, vegan shoes from Camper, eco-sustainability books from Phaidon, accessories from Carmina Campus by Ilaria Venturini Fendi, and rare Brazilian jewelry line Caboclo. Another part of YOOXYGEN is Leny, an eco-brand which will support Al Gore's Climate Project, helping raise awareness of environmental crises and global warming through the sales of totes and t shirts designed by fashion designers and icons. White Apricot's Holiday Wishlist proves once again that a green lifestyle doesn't have to be so granola. The grey dara v-neck sweater by EDUN is sure to become a wardrobe staple because of its versatility and fun wing details on the back. The Oceana Seaglass Dinnerware by Vivaterra made of recycled sea glass has me building an entire kitchen around plates - they will really compliment my imaginary ocean view. The I'm Tired Of bracelets help you stamp out crises from AIDS to animal cruelty - a gift that truly gives back. For more great green gifts, check out White Apricot's Holiday Wishlist!

Military Shirts, Because A Man In Uniform Always Looks Good...

The other day I was at H&M with my friend browsing the section of men's casual wear. When we met up at the cash register, he had picked up a gray military-style shirt and I, coincidentally, picked up the same exact shirt in green. I decided to let him buy it because I knew that there would be one day when we would both be wearing it and we would be constantly referred to as the Doublemint twins. That said, military-style shirts are a hot commodity right now. With finely tuned tailoring and shoulder-accentuating button details, I wonder why these weren't more in vogue back in the day. A myriad of designers have put their spin on the military shirt, giving us a variety to choose from. And remember €“ a man in uniform always looks good. Check out the SLIDESHOW for plenty of options.

Edun's Stylishly Sustainable Fall 2008 'Nocturne' Collection

Bono is known for his philanthropic ways, so it's no surprise that he and his wife, Ali Hewson, created Edun, a label that might just be the most socially conscious and civic-minded luxury line in the fashion world to date. "The whole purpose of Edun is to work sustainably in Africa, India and Peru," explains Hewson. "Those communities have people who have lost jobs because companies have moved to other countries for 20 cents less a T-shirt. We feel it's important to stay in those communities and build up trade there because at the end of the day, trade is going to do more than aid. This is a way of trying to balance that and do business on this continent €“ and still make a profit." Edun's Fall 2008 collection, called "Nocturne," is just as appealing as the cause it represents. When Hewson swung by San Francisco to promote the first-ever pop up store at Azalea in Hayes Valley, I had the opportunity to check out the laid-back, yet stylishly brooding "nocturnal" collection. "We just wanted to do a pop up store because we don't have any retail stores of our own," says Hewson. "For us to be able to show the collection in its entirety and get a reaction to the entire collection rather than just single pieces." For all you San Franciscans, the pop-up store runs through Nov. 17, but if you can't make it, Hewson said that they do plan on opening a stand alone Edun store in the future. Till then, check out some of these Edun goodies for men and women in the slideshow.
