Despite his runway show's budget being cut in half, designer
Zac Posen undoubtedly delivered yet another unstoppably chic collection that waltzed down the runway still looking like a million bucks. With an imaginative Fall 2009 Collection featuring a satisfying balance of elaborately-constructed and fully-wearable pieces, from a pointed-shoulder floor-length floral gown to a perfectly tailored orange tweed coat with ruffled sleeves,
Zac Posen infused both a Victorian romance and a sense of 40's style with modern and urban details, contrasting cropped jackets with flowy skirts, wide squared shoulders with tiny cinched waists, and plaid tweed with floral fabrics. While much of the color palette was festively autumnal, the designer, in true fashion, couldn't resist the elements of drama and surprise by throwing in pops of unexpected color with ruffled lilac skirts and a jaw-dropping red gown with a plunging neckline. As his extravagantly posh pieces strutted down the runway, accented by the musical stylings of sibling piano group The 5 Browns, Zac Posen proved that high-fashion doesn't need to be simplified to please an audience in the face of economic hardship, and no matter the fashion budget crisis, the show must go on!
