In celebration of Earth Day (that's April 22 in case you didn't know), international fashion e-tailer yoox.com is introducing its latest endeavor, YOOXYGEN. The initiative will be an ongoing part of the YOOX site devoted to selling ethically conscious products and reducing the carbon footprint left by shipping orders to customers. In addition to eco-friendly and sustainable products, YOOXYGEN will also showcase designer collaborations, featuring limited edition items for YOOX customers. Think along the lines of fashions from Stella McCartney, vegan shoes from Camper, eco-sustainability books from Phaidon, accessories from Carmina Campus by Ilaria Venturini Fendi, and rare Brazilian jewelry line Caboclo. Another part of YOOXYGEN is Leny, an eco-brand which will support Al Gore's Climate Project, helping raise awareness of environmental crises and global warming through the sales of totes and t shirts designed by fashion designers and icons. Use CUTE Bags And Clean Up The Earth! (Get It?)

Disclaimer: I do in fact own one of those reusable shopping totes, no matter how often I forget to actually bring it with me to the market...

Every once in awhile I'll stop into the natural foods market in my neighborhood. Two things always happen on these trips, without fail. First thing- I end up leaving with odd items like a box of instant oatmeal with some strange man's head printed on the box, or a self-tie bag of some grain I told myself I'd try from the bulk section (because isn't that what you're supposed to do in "natural food" stores?) Second thing- the man at the register scowls as he hands me my bag of random, possibly unnecessary groceries. My PAPER bag. Whoops.

The first time this happened (the scowl, not the random grocery-buying), I was taken aback. I just bought $10 almond butter, the guy could at least crack a smile. However, the next time I went, I happened to be carrying a canvas gym tote, and mentioned to the man (same one) that I could just carry my groceries in it. Him? Same scowl on my way out. Where was the nod, the one that says "Ah! You're doing your part!"? Did he somehow know my bag wasn't organic? Hmph. Off I went.

There's no real moral to this story, but there's probably some truth to the fact that you're more likely to carry a canvas tote (or remember one, in my case) that you actually like. If it happens to be CUTE, even better! The cute (clean up the earth) bags are crafted from organic cotton and embellished with Swarovski crystals. Part of the proceeds from cute bags go to groups like the Natural Resources Defense Council and Global Green USA. So the next time the Mean Organic Grocer Dude/Chick scowls, at least you can know you're way more CUTE than he or she is anyway. But please, do it for the Earth! Buy your cute bags here!

Hey eco-fabulous ladies, (I know you're out there!) want a cool way to flaunt your earth loving style when out on the town? Nature-inspired cocktail rings! That's right, these Diddy-approved hand candies feature animal, plant, and other earth-inspired designs, and they're just in time for fall. The rings range from cute and chunky seashells, to blingin' geodes, to an outrageous diamond-encrusted octopus. I know that they don't exactly relate to "green" living, but whoever said jewelry had to serve any other purpose except to make you feel fabulous? These rings make a statement, and they would be a splendid addition to your favorite fall garments. Check out my SLIDESHOW for my five favorite nature-ific rings - straight from the Hive!

I recently completed a story for AOL on eco-totes that are meant to replace plastic grocery bags, and working on it was an eye-opening experience. Yes, I know plastic bags sit in dumps forever €“ well actually, for 10,000 years before they break down. But did you know that the world consumption of plastic bags is over 4 trillion, of which 14 billion is US use alone? Oh, and only 1 percent of those plastic bags are actually recycled. Many end up on the ground, get washed away, birds tangle in them, marine life is affected. It's very scary, but not a problem we can't solve. Click READ MORE for a bag that's all about helping.

On The Last Day Before Xmas I Hope My True Love Gets For Me: ...

This year, the most coveted gift isn't an "it" bag, can't be found at Saks, is rare in certain areas, and many are dying for a piece of it. But if you look around, you'll find that it's not as elusive as you may think. Still stumped? It's peace. And while it's quite an abstract idea for a gift, there are so many ways to give it, and it looks good on everyone, whether they've got the seventies hippie/boho bug or are just an anything but average activist trying to make a difference. It just takes a little thought, some consideration, and a look through our slideshow of ways to add some peace to the lives of your friends and family, and maybe even to people all over the world. Happy holidays from Stylehive!
