Can you believe it's been 70 years since Dorothy and Toto set off following the yellow brick road? In honor of the 70th Anniversary of "The Wizard of Oz" the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising (FIDM) in Los Angeles selected four students to design gowns inspired by the classic film's main characters. Enter former "Project Runway" contestant
Nick Verreos -- who was brought in to mentor the young designers updating looks for The Cowardly Lion, The Tin Man, The Scarecrow, and Dorothy. Nick blogs about his time in the Tim Gunn-role, "I was very nervous because this was to be the unveiling of their creations, and at the same time, a 'graduation' of sorts for me, since I mentored, guided and helped these students." In addition to his mentor role, Nick had fun out on the event's yellow carpet. Wearing a Dorothy-inspired blue gingham shirt, he rubbed elbows with
George Lopez,
Kristin Cavallari of "The Hills,"
Debi Mazar, and
Lisa Loeb. Check out our friends at
