Hot In The Hive: Hi-Fi Hi-Light

    image

From eye shadow sticks that double as an eye liner to dresses that can be worn in multiple ways, I'm a total sucker for things that can multi-task. With limited space in my room (because it's filled with clothes, of course!) I've got to make my decor count. Lately, I've been listening to my music through my dinky laptop speakers and when my desk lamp finally blew out, I had the perfect replacement in mind. The Hi-Fi Hi-Light from PB Teen is a desk lamp, a charging station for your iPod, as well as a speaker! Talk about getting more bang for your buck. While it's great in my tiny room, this is also a good choice for an office or dorm room. With the desk space you saved by not getting a separate speaker system and desk lame, you now have more room for your accessories!

    Price: $149

    Laptop Add-ons That'll Have Your Notebook Back-To-School ...

    image

So you've picked out the laptop that will (hopefully) serve as your loyal lifeline through the four (or more) years ahead full of harrowing all-nighters and endless study sessions. Check. But is its just-out-of-the-box pristine condition completely ready for what it has in store once it's shipped off with you to college? It may be shiny and new, but is it really ready to tackle the long walks to class, the thousands of party pictures, and (gasp!) the spilled energy drinks? Maybe not, but with this selection of laptop additions, you and your notebook will be fully supplied and stylishly accessorized for both working hard and hardly working. Make sure you have a desktop cord organizer to keep all your tangled cables in check, for one, and don't forget to nab a sweet pair of speakers to lure the floormates into your room for your own dorm dance party (after your paper is done, of course). Check the slideshow for some back-to-school laptop loot!

Dorm Wall Decor To Add Pizzazz To Your Side Of The Room!

    image

As much as you'd like to deny it, it's time to pack those bags and head back to school! Whether you're shacking up on campus in the dorms, going solo in your own apartment, or looking forward to a packed year in the sorority house, those blank walls can look pretty unfriendly. Even if you're not the homesick type, jazzing up your empty wall space can do wonders in making you feel more at home in your new school-year pad, and you're likely to find that even the most cramped or most run-down of places are a whole lot more bearable with a little added personality. Look back on fond memories of last summer while you have new fun times in the fall with a wall photo sleeve, or mark your limited territory over on your side of the tiny dorm room with an initial marquee light fixture. No matter what cool and trendy wall decor you throw up, it may never be a four-star resort, but hey -- it's home! Check the slideshow for some of my favorite fun and quirky wall hang-ups!

    Comfy And Non-Embarrassing Back-To-School Sleepwear

As you're checking off your back-to-school to-do list, make sure you factor in the college student's favorite pastime: sleeping. Whether you live in a res hall or are off-campus with roommates, it's important to have some cute and comfy PJs to toss on. Why?

    1. Lots of people are going to be seeing these things (and I'm not talking about the people you bring home), so it's time to toss out the ratty high school t-shirts and invest in something cute.
    2. Lots of people are going to see you, so if you tend to sleep in the buff I'm pretty sure your roomie would much prefer to see you in some jammies than see your naked butt. Factor in the unexpected fire alarms and possible friends barging in at all hours of the night, and you're going to want to have something to toss on even if you have a room to yourself.

Lucky for all of us, there are tons of options when it comes to cute and cozy PJs. No matter how much or how little you've slept in previously, there's something (or lots of somethings for those 6-week runs between laundry days) super adorable for you. And if you feel like channeling your inner Holly Golightly while your roommate studies 10 feet from your face, there's a mask for you, too. Check out CollegeCandy for some of their school sleepwear picks!
