Meet Manolo, Mingle With The Olsens, And Party With Opening ...

Any fashion week brings with it a slew of star-studded parties, but next month's spring 2010 shows in NYC will be ushered in by an absolute extravaganza- Fashion's Night Out. The September 10th event will feature everything from model and celebrity appearances to in-store events and meet and greets, and of course, shopping! It's being put on by Vogue, the CFDA, NYC & Company, and the City of New York, with the idea that engaging the city in the fun and excitement of fashion and shopping will restore consumer confidence once again. So what can we expect? For starters, Anna Wintour will appear at Macy's in Queens (wow, who would've thought) to sign t-shirts (again, wow), Andre Leon Talley will host a game at Bergdorf's. Coco Rocha will be doing a special performance at DKNY, Sasha Pivovarova will be showing her art at Henri Bendel, and it-girls like Harley Viera-Newton and Alexandra and Theodora Richards will be DJ-ing about town. Want more? Manolo Blahnik will hold a meet-and-greet, Oscar de la Renta will sing, Opening Ceremony is having a block party, and Chanel will have a customized handbag studio! Still not excited? Mark your calendars: Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen will be bartending at Barneys- is it bad that I want someone to order a black and Tanner? It Never Hurts To Make A Good In-'Vest'-Ment!

    image

It's official. The vest has become the new blazer. You can dress it up with a shirt and tie. You can dress it down with a solid colored t-shirt. You can dress it sideways, dress it upside down-- no matter what you do with it, you can make it work. It adds a dapper touch to any outfit-- and all you need is one versatile vest in your wardrobe. For me, it's my Keanan Duffty vest from Target. I wear it every chance I get. But for those of you who need a nice vest to add to your closet, make sure it fits to a tee. An adjustable strap in the back is always helpful to give you a nice suit-like silhouette. Also, keep the color palette as simple as possible so that it goes with more stuff in your wardrobe-- but also look for subtle details that make them unique. The April 77 Transmission Vest has a snazzy zipper instead of buttons, while the texture of the Dolce & Gabbana Velvet Vest is sartorially appetizing-- but when making your in-'vest'-ment, don't go for one that is splattered with graphics or encrusted with rhinestones. You want to make heads turn towards you, not away. Check out the slideshow for some vests for you to consider.

Stylehive's Stylescopes Make Sure You Have This Week In The Bag!

Let's face it -- your week is only going to go well if you're in the right mindset. And what better way to put yourself in the best mood possible than to equip yourself with a brand new bag! Pretty much any excuse for a new purse purchase is a good one in my mind: promotion at work, nothing matches your wardrobe, some extra cash lying around, a sudden change in weather -- whatever makes you feel better and helps you justify a splurge in the name of fashion (and practicality, of course). The bottom line is that your satchel, clutch, tote, or whatever the stars have in store for you, can really make or break an ensemble... and personally I'd rather break the bank than break my outfit (just kidding... sort of)! Having a hard time choosing what carry-all will carry you throughout the week most successfully and stylishly? Let the stars be your guide (and you can add "Stylescopes" to your lists of reasons for making the big purchase)! If you're a Sagittarius, you may be best suited to keep it compact yet girlie with a ruffled Betsey Johnson clutch, and Cancer girls will get to go bright and springy with a teal basket-weave shoulder bag! Check out the slideshow to see which kind of handbag you're destined to get your hands on this week!

    Influential International Style: Camilla Belle

If you don't know Camilla Belle yet, you will soon. The stunning Brazilian-American actress is just 22, but is already making a splash on the fashion circuit. Although she did star opposite the Jonas Brothers in their "LoveBug" video, Belle has since stepped it up, starring in sci-fi thriller "Push" with Dakota Fanning. As the face of Vera Wang's Princess fragrance, it's no wonder Belle is quite the fashion-forward young lady. Her youth and skin tone allow her to experiment with bright colors, fun prints, and tons of sparkles. Never looking too old or too young on a red carpet has proved difficult for some of her peers, but Belle manages to show them up consistently. To channel her fab style, make sure you choose brights that work with your skin tone, and prints that are not too young for you. Wearing bold is Camilla's signature and I think she would look just adorable in something like Thurley's trapeze silk dress. Check out my slideshow for lots of other Camilla Belle looks!
