Hot In The Hive: Dior Addict Spinning Lip Polish

I know what you're thinking -- what's so "hot" about a regular tube of Dior lip gloss? Yeah, it's pretty... but it's also pretty expensive. What you may not be able to tell from this photo of a seemingly "regular tube of Dior lip gloss" is that the Dior Addict Lip Polish has undergone a rather unusual upgrade. In the spirit of bizarre new beauty gizmos like illuminating tweezers and vibrating mascara (which just sounds like a disaster waiting to happen, in my opinion), what used to be just your average sponge swab applicator is now a spinning "magic wand." Yes, folks -- the applicator rolls as you glossify, to apparently help you channel the application techniques of expert makeup artists (you know, just in case you have some kind of wrist deformity that won't allow you to manually mimic the action on your own). For $30 a pop, even a gloss addict like myself isn't convinced that my pucker is going to look much more "pro status" from this beauty tech boost, but hey -- I guess I shouldn't knock it till I've tried it!

    Price: $29.50

Necessary Luxuries: Beauty Products Worth the Bank!

These days, more than ever, it's important to be smart with your hard-earned money. Frankly, it's rather unfashionable to go drop serious dough at Barney's and walk out with several thousand dollars of clothing that won't be in style next season. However, when it comes to beauty products, some investments are worth it. Of course, keeping your face, hair and nails well-coiffed never goes out of style. I've compiled some of my favorite pricier beauty products for your investment consideration. At the top of my list is Chanel's Precision Gommage Microperle Eclat, which is a finely beaded exfoliating gel that leaves your face smooth and smelling like roses. What's more, if you use just a dollop once or twice a week, the $45 tube can last you a year. As long as we're talking Chanel, have you tried their Nail Vernis colors? I know $23 seems like a lot for nail polish, but it goes on smooth and lasts a long time, with a nice shiny finish. One of my daily favorites is Philosophy's Hope in a Jar Moisturizer, which is an extremely lightweight, oil-free, hydrating moisturizer. Ranging from $15 for half an ounce to $60 for four ounces, it ain't cheap, but let's just say seeing is believing with that product. Check out my slideshow for other necessary beauty luxuries!

Shine This Holiday Season With Frosty, Shimmery Makeup!

Every girl likes to add a little more sparkle to her makeup during the holidays! And why not? The key is to not make yourself look like you should be hanging next to that tacky metallic ball on the Christmas tree! Think subtle shimmer, not big specks of glitter. Also, it's best to stick to one feature to glimmer up, like lips or eyes. Try out this crazy shiny Dior lip gloss or this Laura Mercier frosty cream eye shadow. If you're following the mineral makeup craze, pick up Bare Escentuals Feather Light Mineral Veil - it's a fantastic finishing powder that has a slight shimmer and works on all skin tones. And don't forget your body - pouf a little Benefit Kitten on any patch of bare skin to complete the look! Check out the SLIDESHOW for our picks from the Hive, and have a little fun with frosty makeup this holiday season!
