Tie One On: Vintage Fashionistas Find Multiple Uses for Scarves

    image

I tweeted the other day about an Apartment Therapy post that highlighted how beautiful shopping bags can look when framed and hung on the wall. Then today, I spied a lovely shot of a framed Vera scarf that also does double-duty when framed and hung as art. Now if you're anything like me, you have more beautiful scarves in your drawers than any one fashionista could ever wear and thinking about them as art just may inspire you to bring them a few of them into the light of day. Or perhaps this idea is just the excuse you need to wrap your manicured hands around just one more silk beauty for your collection. Click the slideshow and you'll find some vintage scarves that can adorn both your jacket and your mantle!

Flirt Shamelessly This Season With Fall's Spiky Lashes

I've always been a serious eyeliner girl, collecting everything from smoky kohl pencils in every color to budge-proof creme liner pots to liquid glitter liner. But my most recent beauty obsession? Spiky lashes -- either blacked-out versions of your natural lashes, or a little added help from a handy set of falsies like Kim Kardashian's. Unlike thick, showgirl-esque, llama-looking lashes that focus on heavy volume, fall's take on the lash trend gives you dramatic length without verging on unnatural. In other words, you'll have people commenting on how jealous they are of your flirty peepers instead of asking if you just walked off a Vegas stage. Take a look at the slideshow to browse some products that'll help you get your lashes long and spiky! Photo Credit: PR Photos

Get Eyes That Smolder With Fall's Best Brow Tools

Forget the complicated eyeshadow techniques and fluttering false eyelashes -- this fall, it's all about going back to beauty basics with come-hither brows. Since you may overlook doing up your eyebrows beyond your basic waxing or tweezing regime, it's easy to forget just how dramatically different your look can change with even the slightest shaping. After all, they do serve as the vital frame for your face, and this upcoming season's brow trend is bold and strong yet still distinctly feminine. While you don't need to go as far as Megan Fox with the dark dramatic arches, consider a flattering reshaping with a set of stencils and keep straying strands in place with a sleek brow gel. You'll be surprised at how much a pair of neat, bold brows can really amp up your whole face -- not just your powerful peepers! Check the slideshow for the must-have tools to add some pow to your brows!

Indulge Your Chocolate Craving With Matte Mocha Shades

    image

Say "so long" to the shimmering bronze and sandy shades associated with summer beauty. Fall makeup is all about the rich matte shades, reminiscent of a nice warm mug of hot chocolate or your morning mocha. Though neutral matte colors may seem slightly "blah" in comparison to your shimmer dust and glitter eyeliner, these velvety pigments do wonders in warming up your face and skintone when worn alone, and can even be punched up when paired with a touch of gold gloss or highlighter. Go for a softer version of the smokey eye with a dark chocolate shadow, or sweep a rosy mocha sheen on your cheeks for a fall-festive flush. Be careful though, these shades won't only have you tearing up the makeup department -- they'll probably make you want to take a detour to the nearest candy aisle, too. Take a look at the slideshow for some hot chocolate makeup picks!

The Coveted Gives Us The Inside Scoop On The Dior Beauty Fall ...

The new Dior Beauty Jazz Club Collection for fall is filled with sultry smoky greys, purples, and light pinks inspired by the jazz scene and the daring femme fatales of the twenties and thirties. I stopped by Saks San Francisco to get a makeup lesson with Dior National Makeup Artist Karen Hummel. She shared lots of insider tips and techniques that I've been incorporating into my makeup routine. I love how she played up my eyes with the greys in the Smoky Jazz Club compact ($65) and I was blown away by how long and full my lashes looked when she layered two coats of the new Diorshow Iconic Mascara ($27). It almost looked like I was wearing false lashes. I also fell head over heels for the new award-winning Diorskin Nude Fresh Glow Hydrating Makeup SPF 10 ($45) and Diorskin Nude Fresh Glow Powder SPF 10 ($45). They do a wonderful job perfecting the complexion and feel so refreshing and cooling (even the powder). Click over to The Coveted for an in-depth review of the products and a helpful how-to video!
