The large monolithic block is back lit, providing a hazy halo of coloured light. The light creates an almost floating effect reminiscent of the black monoliths in Kubrick & Clark’s 2001: A Space Odyssey. Totally minimal block of wood with digital numbers floating across the surface. These clever clocks have a very thin layer of real maple wood veneer that permits the LEDs to shine through. Each one is slightly different due to the natural variation in wood grain.

The Wooden LED clock is a marvel of simplistic design. Until you plug it in, it looks like a pretty carved piece of wood. Power it up, and the time glows from inside. The entire top surface of the Time Table is a digital clock. The glowing digit segments are made of electro-luminescent film, which accounts for the thinness of the structure (6cm). The electronics include an alarm, and a timer to switch the light off at night. Additionally, the light can be turned on, or off anytime without affecting the time.

Kendra, one of our merchants at UncommonGoods, bought this alarm and raves about it. She says it is her favorite alarm ever because it makes you get out of bed to turn it off. You see, Clocky's alarm goes off once, but if you hit snooze Clocky jumps off your nightstand (up to 2 feet) and wheels around your room looking for a place to hide before it sounds the alarm a second time. The snooze time can be set from 0-9 minutes, so if you set it at 0 Clocky runs right away. Nothing like a little hide-and-seek to get you going in the morning.
