Jimmy Choo For H&M Is Almost Here!

    image

Finally, the day is almost here! The Jimmy Choo collection is the first time H&M is collaborating with an accessories brand and we think it's a pretty fabulous brand to go for on a first try! And it sounds like quite a bit of work went into making this happen. According to Tamara Mellon, the founder and president of Jimmy Choo, "It was a challenge for us to create high-quality pieces at an H&M price point." We believe it! And since the line is more than just shoes and accessories, it will definitely be different from the traditional Jimmy Choo line. We're interested to see how the line fares for H&M. We think it will be hugely popular (we hear they're giving out wristbands for opening day!), but have to wonder if it will cheapen the Jimmy Choo brand as a whole. Clearly Mellon doesn't think so, or we're sure she wouldn't have agreed to the collaboration. She said, "It was H&M's idea to [do clothes], and as soon as they said it, I really wanted to do it." It will definitely allow them to meet a whole new audience; that's for sure! Make sure to check it out when it arrives on November 14! Check back with Limelife for more news on designer collabos!

Jean Paul Gaultier Is Next Up For Target!

Jean Paul Gaultier is doing a Target collection, reports The Cut via WWD. The over-the-top designer's collection will be available at more than 250 Target stores across the country and Target.com on March 7 through April 11. Following Alexander McQueen and Anna Sui, Gaultier is the third established designer to do a collection for the mass retailer under the Designer Collaboration series. His chosen muse? The American woman, "celebrating the forces of style both past and present in American pop culture," a Target spokesperson says. I remember being thrilled by Gaultier's risque designs as a young girl (Madonna's cone-bra corset comes to mind). My mother's dislike of his iconic female/male perfume bottles only made me want them more; both still sit prominently displayed in my glass bathroom cabinet. This Frenchman holds a special place in my heart so I look forward to what he'll bring to Target audiences.

Say It Loud: Got 'Em At Aldo & I'm Proud!

The days of dreaming about how to get those $600 designer shoes are over. Most of us grew up with brands like Steve Madden and Aldo in our local mall or shopping center. Tried and true, we visited these stores for last-minute parties or a pair of work pumps... but not anymore. These brands have caught all the way up, and now feature designs that are fierce, funky and fabulous. With the economy in such a rough state, money is spread thinly for most. But for us ladies, having an amazing shoe must always be in the budget. With most prices at $100 or less, and styles that rival designer brands, you can two-step in your new shoes all the way to the bank! We love these strappy croc booties, especially at the bargain price of $90! See more fashion, beauty, and style news at Essence.
