The Salvatore Ferragamo brand is well known for well-made and stylish shoes, but one should take a closer look at their amazing selection of handbags. Add a dash of drama to your daytime ensembles or evening outfits with these fabulously feminine Salvatore Ferragamo shoulder bags! The Mini Vara Capra ($1550) and Mini Vara Capra Small ($1490) are shoulder bags with the added sweetness and drama of a grosgrain bow on the chain and leather straps. The bags are both made out of leather but the pleating detail gives it the look of satin-y fabric. Both bags are accented with nickel hardware and feature adjustable shoulder straps. These Salvatore Ferragamo bags are such a feast on the eyes! They'll work with a daytime look of jeans, a cute blouse and sandals. They'll easily transition into nighttime when paired with your little black dress and smart coat. Want to know more about these amazing Ferragamo bags? Click over to our friends at Splendicity!

Khirma Eliazov: The New "It" Bag?

I firmly believe that the best fashion finds happen randomly-- especially when you're not looking for them. So it was that I milled around a Vogue fashion week party several months ago and started talking to a stylish woman who carried one of the most beautiful and unique handbags I've seen in a while. When I inquired, Khirma Eliazov replied that she'd designed the bag herself as part of her eponymous line of leather accessories. She then invited me to her fashion week trunk show, where I proceeded to be completely bowled over by further pieces rife with her signature top-quality leather and delightful attention to detail. Erma, as she's known, credits her first job out of college as an accessories assistant at Mademoiselle with what she laughingly calls her "obsession" with accessories. After stints as a stylist, brand manager, and freelance market editor for, among others, Harper's Bazaar, Elle Accessories, and, yes, Vogue, she decided to follow her heart and create a collection that is "beautiful, timeless, different, and, most importantly, functional. Everything about this line surrounds luxury at an attainable price point." Cited as a designer to watch by WWD and toted by fashion 'it' girls like Behati Prinsloo, check out the Khirma Eliazov slideshow to see just why she's one to keep an eye on, and visit her site for more details!

MCM is a brand synonymous with classic luxury travel pieces. They followed on the heels of modern travel and were carried by royalty and celebrities alike. Style, quality and durability were the main goals and after decades, these pieces are still cherished and revered by the fashion press and customers the world over. They are even tested to make sure they are up to the task of being thrown in and out of 747 jets! This season's totes will be sure to stand out among the crowd in "eye-popping colors" such as bright blue hues. Their iconic prints will get spiced up with contrasting piping and yummy crocodile and snakeskin will make a wonderful addition to the leather as they adorn purses and hobos in shades of purple and orange. Have you ever come across those sites or Google Ads for deeply discounted designer goods that make your heart swell? All of a sudden, you've come across the world's best secret, where you can buy a buttery leather Chanel tote for less than the cost of a steak dinner. Most of the time, these scams are pretty evident, but every now and then, some deals slip through the cracks and actually seem legit. Becoming convinced and shelling out cash for what you think is a bargain, however, can have more serious repercussions than you think. Click on over to The Frisky to read on about why you should avoid the counterfeit just for the sake of a discount.

Back To The Classics: Our Top Five Designer Handbags

    image

It seems that after many seasons of excess and "it" bags, the fashion industry has come back to reality. It might be the sobering effects of the economic downturn that's making us look towards the classics. Then again, most of us could never actually afford a new designer bag each season to begin with. So instead of using your tax return on a few trendy items that will make you wonder why the heck you bought them come the next season, put your money into something that will last. Classic handbags never go out of season and look good with nearly every outfit. Yes, they may cost quite a lot of money, but these top designer bags are impeccably made and will last you nearly a lifetime. Don't believe me? I have an old Chanel purse from my grandmother to prove it. The Chanel 2.55 bag is the traditional flap bag. It was first introduced in February 1955 by the ever-practical Coco Chanel, who wanted a hands-free bag with a shoulder strap. The 2.55 comes in one size only, but it's the perfect size, small enough for evening, yet big enough to also use during the day. With its classic shape and iconic status, the Hermes Birkin bag is the holy grail of handbags. The wait list may have died down since its feature on "Sex and the City", but if you don't want to wait or pay full price, eBay and Portero.com are great places to look for them second-hand. No one can argue that the Louis Vuitton Speedy is a classic-- it has been Louis Vuitton's best selling bag since Audrey Hepburn made it popular. Get it in the black or colored Epi leather to avoid getting sick of the logo. Some newer additions to the classic bag line up are the Yves Saint Laurent Muse bag and the Bottega Veneta Intrecciato bags. The Muse was introduced in 2006 and has been a bestseller ever since. The Intrecciato bag from Bottega, otherwise known as the woven bag, is buttery soft, beautifully made, and has become an instant classic, with has a slightly lower price tag than some of the other investment bags. Check out the slideshow to see my top five!
