Laces, usually saved for utility boots and sneakers, started making more trendy appearances on booties last season as heeled combat boots became popular and feminized. And now that it's sandal season, laces are showing up on our favorite summer heels as well. While a sandal isn't something you'd normally associate with the need to knot before wearing, laces add visual interest and add to the sexy ultra-strappy look in a unique new way. But just because they've lost some coverage to suit the upcoming warmer weather doesn't mean they're any less edgy. Either clunky and platformed like these Derek Lam sandals or vampy like these caged Dolce Vita ones, lace-ups are ready to be paired with a summery day dress or you're next night-out outfit, depending on the style. Bag Of The Week: The Derek Lam 'Nadia' Hobo

As fun and cheerful as vibrant pops of color can be from time to time, sometimes there's nothing as refreshing as a really nice leather bag that just comes in one color: black. No saturated tangerine, peacock teal, or magenta shades to choose from or strategically plan outfits around -- just your basic black that will go with everything and look inconspicuous yet oh-so-chic by your side. This particular Derek Lam Nadia Hobo is the perfect example of the understated sleekness of a practical black handbag. Unlike most hobos, it's not the least bit scrunchy or sloppy, and since it's deep as opposed to wide and slouchy, it holds all your loot while still lying flat against your side. And boring it's certainly not -- it's got this cool Picasso thing going on with its off-kilter pocket flap, and its all-around zipper and gold hardware gives it just the right amount of gleaming detail. Of course, when a bag comes like a price tag like this one, it better be pretty awesome!
