Grey Is Denim's Latest Color To Crave

    image

Last year's colored denim craze didn't exactly have me jumping for joy- I find electric blue skinny jeans absolutely terrifying. J.Crew has a knack for making denim look positively adorable in all sorts of pastel shades, but I'm convinced the appeal is all in the masterful styling and not the denim itself. So basically, while I want to like colored denim, I just can't. Besides, I prefer to think of denim as a canvas for the rest of my outfit- the more minimal, the better. The occasional distressing, fine. Studs and rhinestones, no thanks. So when I came across a crop of dusty grey denim at Madewell, I couldn't help but think I was on to something. Sure, they weren't your typical jeans, but they weren't your basic blue jeans either. They were noteworthy, but neutral all at once- in a word, they were perfect. I don't know about you, but I hate shopping for warm weather clothes when it's still freezing out. Shopping for spring and summer clothes just doesn't have the same appeal when I know I can't wear them immediately! If you're in the same boat as I am, keeping reading because I've figured out some easy ways to bring your current winter wardrobe into spring. For starters, take a look at this cashmere sweater dress. Wear a t-shirt and tights under the dress for a winter look and then bare your arms and legs come spring time! A zebra print cardigan is a great layering piece for the chilly weather, yet also makes a great lightweight outerwear piece during the hot months of summer. These Rain Boots Were Made For Splashing!

    image

Over the past few years I've noticed a pretty significant change in my views with regard to weather-appropriate footwear. "I need rain boots" has been replaced with "I want rain boots!" With so many styles out there, it's easy to see why! You can easily swap your usual leather boots for a rubber pair, meaning the rain doesn't stand a chance against your favorite winter outfits. Bummed that you can't wear your Frye engineer boots because it's pouring out? Pull on Jeffrey Campbell's engineer rain boot and you're good to go. Want a pair that'll set you apart from the crowd? Burberry's rain boots are sure to make a splash with their subtle check pattern disc embellishment. Don't want to mess with a classic? The original Hunter wellies are at the top of our list, and look so stylish whether they're worn over jeans or with dresses and tights. For extra fun, jazz up a basic rain boot with a pair of welly socks or striped leg warmers! For these styles and many more, check out the slideshow.
