It's all about making a personal statement through jewelry these days. Chunky bracelets, multi-layered necklaces and huge earrings help add character and individual style to sleek outfits, but many times, these gorgeous works of wearable art cost more than we're willing to shell out. The great thing about statement jewelry is that it's eye-catching and highly memorable, but the downside is also how memorable it can be. Sure, you could wear your statement piece every day, and you'd certainly get your money's worth, but people would probably begin to notice and you might get bored of the piece yourself! Check out the slideshow for our favorite standout pieces and scoop up a few to add to your outfits- at under $50 each, you can shift your thinking to style statements, not bank statements!

Although it's only in its third season, it's hard to remember a time when there was no "Gossip Girl" in our lives. There were no full-fledged fashionista high-schoolers with wardrobes that would turn Victoria Beckham green with envy, or crazy and twisted love stories that make you wonder ... when are these people actually in class? Who did we turn to for juicy, over-indulgent guilty pleasures and lust-worthy fashion items that we knew weren't affordable but put it on the shopping list anyway, along with numerous other unattainables? I cannot, for the life of me, remember what we used to do on Monday nights at 9pm. Well, their costume department has done it again, and this time it's with a gorgeous, sparkling bracelet that is elegant, sophisticated, youthful and not exactly cheap. However, the Amethyst Cuff by Bounkit Jewelry is the kind of jewelry that, although flashy and eye-catching, is still feminine and demure enough to wear with a whole variety of outfits. A flowing tops and skinny jeans for daytime would look amazing topped off with this brilliant piece, while a black dress and sky-high heels would stand out even more. Either way, there is no denying the beauty and appeal of this Bounkit cuff, and how much we wish we could just snatch it off Leighton Meester's dainty little wrist and make a run for it!

    Price: $560

You've been with your guy for a while, and things are getting serious. His parents are coming to visit. He wants you to meet them. Try not to panic. You're charming! Guy knows that you'll wow them. Now, to decide what to wear! A few recommendations: wear something flattering, but not revealing. Don't show too much cleavage or too much leg, but hey, work your assets all the same. Choose a classic style like Calvin Klein's Laser Cut Ruffle Shirtdress. Something that will flatter your curves, but also says, hey I'm a good girl and I would make a great mother to your grandkids. If you've got a killer dress already, I recommend one pop of interest and color with your jewelry. Wearing something like Kenneth Jay Lane's Garden Cuff is great because if all else fails, it's a conversation piece. Check out my slideshow for lots of options to meet his parents!

Over 7,000 years ago, our ancient ancestors in Egypt and Africa began making bracelets out of wood, stone, plants, and yes, even bone. Today, bracelets are the second most-popular jewelry item, right behind earrings. Whether you like 'em dainty or gargantuan, fancy or organic, signed or homemade, classic or mod--there is definitely a vintage bracelet out there in your price range. And don't be a label snob when you're shopping, since many designers never signed their jewelry. Bracelets are also an excellent way to exercise your style muscle. If you're the classic, conservative type, break out of your mold with a mod geometric piece. If you live on the fashion edge, try something more dainty and feminine just for kicks. Here's a collection of different vintage styles to inspire you. Just click the slideshow to see them.
