Couture In The City Loves Rachel Roy's TransFOURmer Coat!

Just in time for fall, the new TransFOURmer coat from the Rachel Rachel Roy collection is not only super chic, but smart and thrifty too! As seen in Real Simple magazine, the Transfourmer coat is one coat that can be unzipped and worn in 4 different ways. Remove the bottom for a chic motorcycle jacket look or take off the sleeves and bottom for a twist on a vest. The inside is lined with Rachel's signature graffiti print, for an unexpected pop of color. View the video that demos all of the different looks the coat transforms into, then check out Couture in the City for more thrifty fashion treasures!

WhatsWear Finds Great Fall Leather Jackets For Less!

Leather jackets are one of the most important fall staples. They are universal, never go out of style and look great on both men and women. However, some leather jackets can run you upwards of $600! In this economy that is just way too much to spend on a jacket you can only wear in the spring and the fall. However, WhatsWear has come to the rescue and found adorable leather jackets for under $260! We scoured the web searching for cheap and chic jackets for both men and women. TopShop had the best selection of real leather and faux leather jackets. I love their fitted, cropped black jackets for women. These three jackets had more of a rock-n-roll feel, but if you are looking for something more ladylike, go no further than Forever 21's 3/4 sleeve leather jacket in a beautiful cream. Our favorite picks for the boys included the navy bomber jacket (faux leather), the timeless black bomber jacket (all leather and machine washable!) and the super chic grey leather sweatshirt (all leather but dry clean only). Pair your desired leather jacket with just about anything from dresses to jeans to skirts and more! Head over to WhatsWear for more fall fashion that won't cost you the whole season's salary.

The Crop Top: Love it or Lose it?

In the fashion world, it's "what is old is new again" all of the time. Everywhere I turn, it seems like the cropped top is one of those "new" old trends that's coming back with a vengeance! They were on the runways (Alexander Wang & Victoria Bartlett, for instance), in tons of editorials, and now it seems like the lynch pin of '90s fashion is even popping into stores! After years of t-shirts and tops getting longer and longer, are we ready to raise the shirt hemline, bare the midriff again, and show off some skin? While the trend seems sexily adorable on tall Eastern European models in the pages of Vogue, is it going to be able to translate to mere mortals? Crop tops can be a great option with high-waisted pants and skirts, as you don't have to tuck in all that excess fabric. But what happens with tighter pants? What's going to hide a woman's worst enemy... the muffin top? Just the thought of wandering the city streets with my belly bare makes me want to lock myself in my apt with my ab roller!

Lookin' Good From Bottom To Top With Stylehive's Stylescopes!

One thing I love about the warmer months, aside from the influx of fun Spring and Summer trends, is the new freedom to don cropped pants, silky skirts, and short shorts without freezing my hiney off or looking like a total fool and/or floozy. Without the pressure of having to cover up for the sake of keeping warm, the possibilities when it comes to stylish bottoms are truly bottomless -- whether you dare to bare those gams, or prefer to keep them sheathed in longer slacks made from a more breathable, spring-friendly material. With all the fashionable options available, how does a girl decide which kind of skirt or trousers best suits her tush? You could go the expensive route and buy every pair of pants, capris, shorts, or skirt in sight... or you could let the stars be your guide and let Stylescopes help you dress to impress and charm the pants off everyone this week! Pisces girls will look tailored and chic in a pair of high-wasted high waters, Virgos will hit the town looking edgy in a zipper-front skirt, and Tauruses will knock out two birds with one stone in a cute one-shoulder romper! Check out the slideshow for your sign and take a look at some cute outfit halves that will be sure to complete your most stylish ensemble this week!

New York Fashion Week Studio: Elise Overland Brings Glamour ...

    image
Lisanne Silverman on сен 7, 2008 2:08 PM PDT
Fall/winter, spring/summer...where's the monsoon collection? Elise Overland's S/S 2009 presentation at a dark 19th Street space was all the proof I needed that even though my BCBG dress and the rain weren't an ideal match, leather and sequins definitely were. Old Hollywood glamour met nineties' grunge as silk head scarves and sequined shawls peeked out from cropped motorcycle jackets, and exposed zippers met their match upon pleated silk mini dresses. Models donned rose-colored John Lennon frames and their chunky peep-toes were the perfect contrast for the light layers. The overall look was decadent yet effortless, and can be easily reinterpreted for fall, which is good because I don't think I can wait until spring to try out these trends! Check out the slideshow to see the looks.
