Lydia Hearst, Mariska Hargitay, or Jessica Biel: Who Looked ...

    image

As the weather gets warmer and the carefree days of summer are almost here, it's no surprise that the stars have been lightening up their looks as well. Don't get me wrong- I love seeing the beyond edgy frocks that some are known to sport, but sometimes there's nothing more appropriate than lace and ruffles. Of course, past the age of six they're not quite so easy to wear- let's see if these celebs hit the right style notes. Mariska Hargitay donned an off-the-shoulder gown with cascading ruffles at the 2009 White House Correspondent Dinner, Jessica Biel was poised in an asymmetrical dress and soft waves at a screening of "Easy Virtue," and Lydia Hearst looked ready for tea in a vintage-looking lace dress with rosette appliques at Modern Bride's "25 Trendsetters of 2009" Awards Dinner. Try Nude Colored Heels For A Naturally Stylish Look

    image
Amber Fijolek on Feb 3, 2009 9:22 AM PST
Barefoot and beautiful! Well ... almost. 2009 brings on shoes with less bling and something a little more natural -- or, rather, natural-toned. Katie Holmes recently sported some nearly-naked colored Stuart Weitzman shoes, but the skin-hued heels have been gracing carpets of all kinds from some other Hollywood favorites like Selena Gomez, Lady Gaga, Salma Hayek, Debra Messing and Penelope Cruz. For a shoe that goes with any outfit, these ladies kicked off their color and opted for tones that blended right in. It may take a minute or so to find the right color for you, so don't take just one specific pick as the last word over a shoe that will match best. A fairer skin may find that a beige colored shoe is the best blend, while one that's a camel toned may be just what's needed to look seamless on a darker skin. For legs that look like they go on forever, take a cue from some famous fashion moguls and find some flesh-fitting kicks in my slideshow!

StyleDiary Spotlight: Amethyst Dazzles In Romantic Dresses

Meet Australian Stylediarist Amethyst. Although her style mantra happens to be "quality over quantity, her StyleDiary sure offers up an impressive number of innovative and romantic looks. I'm already inspired by her variety of shorter style dresses, skirts, shorts - and especially seeing how she wears them during the different seasons. Amethyst favors a classic yet timeless color palette of mostly blues, greys, creams, and black, but she isn't afraid to add subtle pops of color from items like grape-colored tights or a knit red beret. But fabulous sense of style aside, Amethyst's StyleDiary is worthy of a visit simply due to her collection of envy-inducing fashion finds. I'm already pining over more than a few items straight out of her personal wardrobe! Like this shrunken coat with beautiful ruffle detailing and this irresistibly chic ivory cape. So see Amethyst's StyleDiary for yourself, or click on the slideshow to see my favorite looks straight from her page.

Emerging fashion designer Ronit Genik has always been inspired by streetwear, but her Fall 2008 Reverie line leans more to a refined, sculptural look as she plays on New York's architectural landscape. She maintains a palette of black and cream while infusing it with pop color while hinting at edginess with exposed zippers, textured leather and sequins, and metal boning. We had a chance to chat with Ronit this week about her new line. Click READ MORE to learn more about Ronit's inspiration and see what she has to say about the fashion industry, and check out the SLIDESHOW for a preview of her Fall 2008 collection.
