While this sculptural table appears to be firmly rooted with thick branches of wood, it's actually industrial concrete and metal that creates this image of faux bois (fake wood). Using a centuries-old technique, skilled artisans fashion steel and wire into a demilune frame and then fill it by hand with cement. The result is a smooth, stone surface with a modern "grain" of color that can vary from subtle greys and whites to browns and greens. Faux Bois ages beautifully over time, taking on a slightly darker patina and fine veining.
