Live Like A Queen (Or King) At Turkey's Mardan Palace

    image
Amber Fijolek on Sep 9, 2009 4:19 PM PDT
In Antalya, Turkey, a beautiful city surrounded by mountains that sits right on the Mediterranean coast, there lies a resort fit for a king. Mardan Palace was made for those rolling in riches, and every penny has been invested into the development of such indulgent design that its majesty defies reality. And what better a location for such a world-class resort than Antalya, a city known for its proximity to great skiing, hiking, and shipwreck exploring as well as its important role in the history of the Greek, Roman, and Ottoman empires. The hotel boasts its own coral reef and lagoon, a spa so sweet it will make you salivate, and a vast swimming pool that appears bigger in area than the resort itself. Each room caters to this marvelous location with a view of either the Mediterranean Sea, the Taurus Mountain Range, or the pool encapsulated by a series of ornamented bridges. As if the beautiful view weren't enough, guests enjoy toiletries by Hermes and a 24-hour butler service. Excursions alone could occupy your entire stay, but guests are also entertained by 24 different spots within the resort to enjoy some luxury food and libations, including one with an all vegetarian menu, one with windows made of tropical fishtanks, one within the Palace's own waterfall, and one situated on the rooftop. It's a shame I've spent most of my lifetime without having considered Turkey an instinctual travel destination: It's now reached the top of my list! Coral Jewelry And Other Sea Life Inspired Things For Your Closet!

    image

When I was an elementary school, my favorite field trips were the ones that involved the ocean. From going to the beach to find seashells to visiting the aquarium and exploring the shallow tide pools. What better way to recapture those carefree days than to incorporate it into our wardrobes! Before you think that adding things like coral and seashell prints will make you look like your mom, think again. The trick is to go towards a more subtle route. Don't pile on the coral jewelry with a large sea life printed dress unless you want to look like you're trying out for a Golden Girls revivial! Instead, layer on a long faux coral charm necklace with other chain necklaces. If you're going to do a large statement piece like the seahorse printed tank top, then keep everything else sleek and simple. Take a look at my slideshow for more sea life inspired items that will have you singing "Under the Sea."

Get Blushing In A Red, Pink Or Coral Dress This Valentine's Day!

I've found out that there's tons to prepare for if you're celebrating Valentine's Day with your sweetheart. From reserving a table at the most romantic restaurant in town well in advance to finding that perfect gift, there's a lot of stress leading up to the big day. Why not let us make your life a little easier in the wardrobe department? If you're still looking for that sexy Valentine's Day date dress, read on. One of my favorite fashion quotes comes from famed designer, Bill Blass: "When in doubt, wear red." While a bold bright red may not be right for everyone's style, I've found a wide selection in reds, pinks, and corals. Don't worry, these dresses can be worn again and again (no heart prints in sight!) without anyone wondering why you're in a Valentine's Day getup in June. Then again, I can't vouch for your Christmas sweaters or St. Patrick's Day all-green outfits. A red and white striped nautical-inspired dress is great for a casual date. Coral is one of those totally underrated colors that looks good on most skin tones. Take a look at a one-shoulder ruffle dress by Tibi for a stunning example. New York Fashion Week Style Steal: I'll Wear What He's Wearing

Boys, take note: the graphic tee, blazer, and jeans combo never, and I mean never, fails. Change up the color scheme and throw on some quirky accessories (mint wayfarers, tennis shoes) and you'll be set for anything- and anyone- who comes your way. The colorful jacket is a bit daring, but he wears it so well, and as for the casually half-buttoned, sleeves rolled up style, well, it's just so effortless. I can show you where to find pretty much everything he's wearing, but style like his just can't be bought. Click the slideshow to try and get the look!
