    Which Whitney Art Party Look Gets Your Bid?

    The Whitney Contemporaries Art Party And Auction held last Wednesday at NYC's Skylight left me with two burning questions- one, isn't every Whitney party an art party? And two, what was up with Hana Soupkova's dress? In case you weren't already aware, the Contemporaries are a group of art patrons who support the Whitney's dedication to up-and-coming talent and innovation. They're also granted full access to the NYC art scene-- not such a bad gig. The event was essentially a who's who of the dynamic New York social scene, with Lydia Hearst and Tinsley Mortimer mingling amongst the likes of model Hilary Rhoda and actress Camilla Belle.     Calling All Design Enthusiasts: The Stockholm Furniture Fair ...

    From February 4 to February 7, the Stockholm International Fair will host the Stockholm Furniture Fair, featuring exhibitions of modern design as well as a number of guest speakers and seminars. The show will feature seventeen designers, from well-established names to young talents, from traditional modes of construction to state-of-the-art technologies. You can't miss 'Riot,' a lamp designed by Janne Kyttanen as part of the FOC (Freedom Of Creation) collection which uses Megaman energy saving recyclable bulbs. Other highlights include Angela Staps' floating lamp shade Los 1, in which the lamp shade levitates above the bulb, and Marieke Staps€™ Soil Lamp, in which an LED light is powered by the metabolism of biological life in the mud. Special guest speakers include Ineke Hans, whose famous creations incorporate the training of a designer with the aesthetics of a sculptor, and trend analyst Li Edelkoort, known both for her research and her role as a consultant to companies such as Coca-Cola and Estee Lauder.     Move Over Ikea! H&M Debuts Their Own Home Collection

    The Scandinavians are at it again! While those of us in America were in a tizzy over Black Friday sales and holiday gift shopping, H&M released their new home collection in Berlin, Germany. If you haven't had enough of the modern home styles of Ikea or CB2, take a look at H&M's bold bedding, towels, and pillow covers. Based around four sub collections- design, nature, classic and youth- the entire collection will launch online in February 2009 and will be available for sale in Scandinavia, the Netherlands, Germany and Austria. No word yet on if and when they'll be available in the U.S., but stay tuned to the Hive for updates, and in the meantime, click over to racked.com to see more pictures and details about the collection.
