LemonDrop Suggests You "Trick Or Chic" With Fashion-Inspired ...

    image

Craving a Halloween costume that's not so much scary as it is stylish? Why not pay homage to an iconic fashion personality? From a ghoulish Karl Lagerfeld to a monstrous cat-wielding Kenley Collins, these get-ups are just right for fashionistas who are less into "boo" and more into "Goo ... cci." How about Anna Wintour? Between her pow-wow with David Letterman and the success of "The September Issue," it may just be the Year of the Icy British Editrix. Here's what you'll need:

    -elegant dress or skirt suit
    -bobbed wig with bangs
    -fabulous heels
    -devil's accessories
    -sunglasses
    -copy of Vogue
    -haughty attitude

You may not be able to snap your fingers and have a designer frock suddenly appear, but you can fake it. Simply throw on your finest skirt suit or dress (bearing in mind that Ms. Wintour does not do black), affix an inverted triangle Prada label you've cleverly made out of construction paper, stick some devil's horns atop your bobbed wig, and slap on some giant black shades. Extra points for carrying a copy of Vogue or having your giant Andre Leon Talley lookalike BFF hover behind you in a cape. Click over to Lemondrop for three more clever ideas!

Lily Allen Shows Off Chanel's Coco Cocoon Collection

For Fall/Winter 2009 Chanel is introducing the new Coco Cocoon Collection, a line of casual handbags and accessories made out of washed lambskin or quilted nylon. The puffy reversible bags reveal the signature quilted Chanel pattern when turned inside out. Combining style with practicality, "Coco Cocoon" handbags smoothly transition from everyday city life to relaxing weekend getaways. The line includes a range of handbags, travel bags and small leathergoods. Lily Allen, portrayed as Audrey Hepburn in Breakfast at Tiffany's, is the face of the collection, and I have to say, the ads almost tempt me to splurge on the sleeping bag lookalikes! Chanel Fall 2009 Venice Makeup Collection

Coco Chanel viewed Venice as a city of great intrigue - simultaneously dramatic and fragile, much like herself. The Chanel Makeup Studio used their imagination to bring this water-themed city to life for Fall 2009 in a palette reflective of its shimmery facades, mosaics, and sparkly aquatic lagoons. Chanel's Global Creative Director, Peter Philips, recently created Venetian-inspired runway looks for the 2009/10 Cruise show - held on the beaches of Venice - with tones of rich sienna, deep rose, mysterious greys, and dusky greens that can be softened for day or emboldened come evening. Catch A Preview Of The Chanel Cruise 2010 Collection In Venice!

    image
Lisanne Silverman on May 11, 2009 12:10 PM PDT
Can't make it to Venice to see Chanel's cruise collection drift down the runway this Thursday? We can't really help you there (our invites got lost in the mail too), but a peek at the teaser videos might console you. The camera pans over the water as it glistens, lights twinkle in the background, and a slightly somber voice croons in a language that may or may not be Italian. It's all very dreamy and romantic and kind of brilliant in that there is nothing outwardly fashionable about it, yet it makes you want to be there all the same. But why Venice? Lagerfeld says Gabrielle "Coco" Chanel was inspired by Venice in 1920, and promoted her beach pyjamas there. A Leo herself, she is said to have collected all sorts of lion figurines while visiting, as they are a symbol of the city- perhaps this will all play into Thursday's show.
