    Before there was Carrie Bradshaw, there was Cher Horowitz, the misguided matchmaker cum fashionista of her Beverly Hills high school. She's Paris Hilton with a heart (and a brain), and her closet was the envy of every 16-year-old girl in 1995. We're campaigning to bring back Cher's killer style for 2009 -- but how? That's where our fashion expert Brian comes in, with some tips on pulling it off. Brian says: Luckily, Cher's style wasn't quite as dated as some of her mid-'90s contemporaries (no flannel shirts here). Her look was upscale prep. Think Gucci meets the Gap. Cher rocked the sexy schoolgirl look way before Britney -- and with much better hair.

    Cher Horowitz (Alicia Silverstone) endeared herself to fashionistas everywhere when she pleaded, "You don't understand; this is an Alaia!" while held at gunpoint and forced to ruin her frock from, like, a totally important designer (so many quotables from this movie -- be warned: I'm going to go there many times over). Clueless still holds up today as not just a modern classic, but also as a time capsule for mid-90's fashion: plaid skirts, embellished jackets and cardigans, high-heeled Mary Janes, knee-highs/thigh-highs, and demure headbands.     Move over Queen B, Cher Horowitz is here! Put that valley girl accent to use and channel Cher from 90s hit movie "Clueless" this Halloween. With her spending sprees, computer controlled closet, and infectious personality, Cher is the ultimate example of 90s excess. The styles of "Gossip Girl" have nothing on the cast of Clueless and Cher tops them all with her coordinating outfits that are preppy but never stuffy. Take a page out of Cher's book and check out this argyle sweater dress that's great for layering or this classic beret that will have you saying "Oui! Oui!" And don't forget to hold a bundle of shopping bags in each hand for all the treats (and compliments) you'll get on Halloween night.
