How To Keep Everything (Including The Kitchen Sink) Clean!

    image
Anna Yu on May 19, 2009 2:18 PM PDT
Like a lot of people I know, I love cooking but hate the cleanup that's involved. I mean, I just can't help using multiple spoons for every taste test, dripping sauces everywhere I go, and getting flour everywhere (including my nose). So it's no wonder why my kitchen looks like a war zone and I've got no one volunteering to help clean. When you want things done, you have do it yourself, right? Aside from the usual sponges, mops, and towels you already have, I'm sure there are some cleaning supplies and gadgets you wouldn't mind having. If you've been working with smelly foods like garlic, onions, or fish, use a stainless steel bar of soap to get rid of the odors from your hands. My California upbringing definitely contributed to my love for recycling, so these recycle bags are a convenient way to organize your glass, metal and paper recycling. Take a look at my slideshow for more kitchen cleaning items you'll love to use!

Winter seems to be sticking around for a bit longer and with that comes winter-ravaged skin. It all adds up, so next time, you might want to invest in products from the REN Clean Bio Active skincare line. Enter To Win A REN Clean Bio Active Skincare Set!

In this day and age, "natural" isn't as simple as it sounds. Natural foods can be expensive, natural fabrics are hard to come by, and let's face it- clothes made from natural materials? Not always the most fashion-forward (though designers are working to change that!) What is simple is the fact that natural skincare products are the best thing there is for your skin, so when Robert Calcraft and Antony Buck created REN Clean Bio Active Skincare, they shifted their focus from "natural"- a quality by which so many other skincare lines define themselves- to pure. The London-based skincare experts create truly clean products using high-tech bio actives, which leave your skin healthy and radiant, in addition to boosting its ability to renew itself- meaning you won't find scary ingredients like parabens and other synthetics anywhere near them. They also contain anti-oxidants and phyto-hormones, and are so pleasurable to use- both because of they way they work and the way they feel. We're giving away a four-piece REN skincare set (a $183 value) to one lucky Hiver- read on to find out about the products included in the set, and how you can win them for yourself!

The holidays are officially long over by now and whether you like it or not, it's time to get your head out of the clouds (or at least off the pillow) and back to work - whether it's at the office, in the classroom, or at home tackling that long list of new year's resolutions you set for yourself. If you're like me and require a clean desk and a clear mind in order to kick the procrastination bug and get your work done with no distractions, Fred Flare's Mini Robo Vacuum is here to serve as your knight in shining... plastic! This pocket-sized picker-upper comes in three different colors and with just the push of a button (and two AA batteries), he will roam your desk picking up crumbs, pencil shavings, or any other workstation debris that may be left behind from a long day on task (hey, productivity can be messy!). As long as you don't start making messes on purpose just to watch your handy new robo-friend in action, he may save you some valuable time - and accessorize your desk in the process!

    Price: $20
Who Found It: xgalexy was first to add the Mini Robo Vacuum to the Hive.
