There's nothing like a benefit fashion show to make you feel good for once about all the time and money you invest in your love of clothes! The Seam Collective, a NYC-based alliance dedicated to the advancement of female designers, sponsored the Spring/Summer 2010 Forte Charity Fashion Show, which took place last week, boasting Project Runway season 5 alum Kenley Collins as the headliner. 50% of ticket proceeds went to support Gilda's Club, a program that raises money for cancer patients and their families. Alongside Kenley, who presented a chic Amelia Earheart-inspired collection, emerging designers Sheila Frank, Elizabeth Rynish, and Marissa Erskine also presented their Ready To Wear lines to the event's eager turnout. We especially love Sheila Frank's button-up romper and Elizabeth Rynish's swirled paint patterns! Check out the slideshow for some pictures from the runway!

Francois Nars, creative director and founder of the iconic cosmetics company Nars, is celebrating 15 years of success with a new project that honors two of his favorite past times. As an avid photographer, Nars will release 15 portraits of specially selected celebrities wearing his products in a new, limited-edition pictorial. Each celebrity chose his or her own favorite Nars product and their photograph reflects the product's inspiration. "15 x 15" will be sold exclusively at the project's site for 30 days starting November 12th at 8 PM, with only 1,500 copies up for grabs. Each book costs $80, but all the proceeds will be donated to charities hand-picked by the celebrities featured. Some of the faces to look forward to include Marc Jacobs, Isabella Rossellini, Amber Valleta, Naomi Campbell, Olivier Theyskens, and Shalom Harlow. Shop For Chic Jewelry And Support Breast Cancer Awareness Month!

As you may know, October is Breast Cancer Awareness month so while we may be thinking of dark fall colors, it's definitely time to think pink instead. I'm not the biggest fan of wearing t-shirts with words or ribbons so I'm doing my part in the cause by adding some jewelry to my wardrobe instead. Various designers and retailers have partnered together to raise funds for the Breast Cancer Network of Strength, Susan G. Komen Foundation and other research efforts. That means the money you used for the bling you're wearing went to an amazing cause. Talk about guilt free shopping! Some of my favorite pieces include Avanessi One Love bracelet where 15% of sales will go to the Susan G. Komen foundation. I also really like the bold pink strap and watch face of the Francine Patent BCRF Watch by Coach. Take a look at my slideshow for some of my favorite jewelry that supports breast cancer research and awareness!

Guitar Strings For A Good Cause

Do you love interesting jewelry? How about jewelry that supports a good cause? Now how about interesting jewelry that supports a good cause and is made from something that musicians like Ani DiFranco, Benji Madden, Carlos Santana or John Mayer have used? Wear Your Music creates unique bracelets from old guitar strings that would normally just get tossed. Musicians donate their used guitar strings to Wear Your Music, who then create bracelets from them and sells them, giving the proceeds to the charity of the musician's choice. It's a win-win situation for everyone: you get a cool bracelet with bragging rights that your favorite musician actually touched it, the landfills are a little less full, and charities benefit from the proceeds! Check out the impressive list of celebrity donors at the Wear Your Music site, and don't forget to click over to Splendicity for the latest style updates!

Miley Cyrus to Auction Off Wardrobe

No matter what your age, it's hard to deny that Miley Cyrus is a good dresser. We only wish we could dress as well as she does and we're way older than her 16 years. But now is your chance to score the clothes in her closet. Yes, her actual clothes. Miley is auctioning them off! We can't even imagine how many clothes Miley owns. Things she's probably only worn once and then put them away. You could go to Walmart and get some super cheap items from Miley and Max Azria's new clothing line. Or you could participate in the auction for Miley's actual clothes. And one item up for auction is the chance for you and your friends to go on the road with Miley! Miley is partnering with Ebay to put her clothes up for auction and she's not even keeping the proceeds. All the money made will go to the Pappy Cyrus Foundation, the Cyrus family's personal charity that helps children in need. So, whether you just want to score one of Miley's outfits or you want to bid on the chance for a meet-and-greet with her, head over to the auction and start bidding! It starts today and will run until August 13. Want to do more than just dress like Miley Cyrus? Want to wear her actual clothes? Click on over to our friends at Limelife!

DKNY Supports Charity CITYarts In New York City!

DKNY has designed a tee with a cause, cleverly dubbed the "Chari-Tee." DKNY's Chari-Tee is an interactive program between DKNY and those who love and wear it! The tee retails for $65 and benefits a menu of NYC organizations. Each hangtag lists five NYC charities to which you can donate. Once you've decided on the organization, log on to dkny.com and select your choice. DKNY will then donate a portion of the proceeds from the sale of your Chari-tee! It's a fun, cool way to send instant love to NYC! In addition to the Chari-tee, DKNY has produced eight different eco-friendly printed totes featuring artwork of eight NYC students, created for the CITYarts "Portraits of Peace" initiative. There are 5 of each style -- 40 unique bags in total. The totes are only $25 each with all proceeds going back to CITYarts, but they'll only be available at the DKNY store on Madison Avenue, so make sure you head over if you're in the area! Don't forget to check out the Couture In The City blog for more fashion finds and style news!
