Her long standing career as one of the most important Japanese artist working today, and her inclusion in the 2004 Whitney Biennial is evidence that Yayoi's work is as strong these days as it was 40 years ago. Kusama came to prominence in the late 50s with her site specific installations, which today exist in the form of photography, and with her infamous dot and net obsession paintings. She continues to explore the influence of patterns, repetition, and the idea of infinity, of the notion that a two-dimensional work of art, of even an installation had the ability to transcend spatial limitations. The Kusama Balloons, which are made of synthetic leather, are available in three variations in size and color. Red Dots on a large white balloon, red Dots on a small white balloon and white Dots on a small red balloon. The nylon Pumpkins, which are inspired by the recurring forms in Kusamas work, are available in yellow covered with black Dots.
