Who Had The Best 'Do At The "Good Hair" Premiere?

    image
Alex Gambardella on Oct 10, 2009 9:18 AM PDT
For a celebrity, it's always vital to look your best wherever paparazzi might be present (like, uh, everywhere?)... so naturally a Los Angeles film premiere is no occasion to slack off, no matter how casual the affair. But when the film is Chris Rock's docu-comedy "Good Hair," the pressure is on to be more than just impeccably clothed. Last week's Westwood debut brought forth a throng of fashionable ladies to the red carpet, including Gabrielle Union and Nia Long who both showed off bouncy curly coifs that hardly seemed as high-maintenance as the film subjects' stressed-out tresses. And Eve and Raven-Symone were looking perfectly polished from their feet to their follicles with their shiny straightened locks that at least looked fuss-free and effortless (and that's all that matters, right?). Which Emmy Awards Actress Did The Matte Makeup Look Best?

    image

When the phrase "award show" is mentioned, things that usually come to mind in the realm of beauty are "dramatic," "high-impact" and "come-hither." You think plump red lips, rosy cheeks, heavy eyeliner, fluttering lashes... Okay, maybe I'm thinking Old Hollywood, but still, the stereotype is often still expected on big-night red carpet events like the Emmys. However, a celeb photo hound like myself couldn't help but notice the prevalence of neutral matte lips at last Sunday's fete, from drama queen January Jones' semi-sheer coral hue to funny gal Alyson Hannigan's peachy nude. Who knew that understated barely-there shades would be the key to shaking things up on TV's biggest night? Whether these downplayed lip shades served to help balance other features like Mila Kunis' smoky eyes, or simply matched an overall style like Kim Kardashian's sexy ice princess look, these TV sirens proved you don't need bold color or high shine to be a winner in our beauty book! Vote below on who you think looked best in her matte lipcolor. Photo Credit: PR Photos

Kim Kardashian's A Beauty Editor For OK!

    image
Alex Gambardella on Sep 21, 2009 9:18 AM PDT
Kim Kardashian's playing a smart game! The reality show star and gossip circuit regular has signed up with OK! Magazine to talk all things beauty. After finally taking the plunge in the world of brunette-to-blond and back again (and applying what must be gobs of lipgloss and mascara before every event), Kim's definitely qualified. Why is this a smart move from Kim, and not just for the obvious extra notoriety and attention? Now she might be able to keep herself in-the-know about nasty rumors that come up about her, and she will be able to avoid any particularly egregious lies being spread by certain magazines. We love Kim's look, and if there's one thing she's got down pat, it's got to be makeup! We'll be reading her tips and critiquing on the regular, but we have no doubt that she's succeed. Get The Look: Megan Fox's "Teen Choice Hottie" Hairstyle

    image

Last week, actress Megan Fox won the award for "Female Hottie" alongside Robert Pattinson at the 2009 Teen Choice Awards in Universal City, California. Renato Campora for Frederic Fekkai created a young tousled, soft and sexy look for Megan, perfect for strutting the red carpet and accepting her life-size surfboard onstage. Below she shares how to create the look yourself!

The Look: Tousled, soft and sexy

How to Get the Look: In order to achieve Megan Fox's soft and sexy summer look Renato started out by using FEKKAI COIFF Strong Hold Volume Mousse on damp hair to create sexy texture that holds. He then air-dried her hair his fingers and used a one-inch curling iron to make long soft waves and give the hair a modern and fresh feeling. He then spritzed the hair with FEKKAI GLOSSING Sheer Shine Mist to add shine and finished with FEKKAI Sheer Hold Hair Spray to maintain the look all show long.

Buzzed hairstyles seem to be all the rage for up-and-coming Hollywood starlets. From Rihanna's fashionable fauxhawk to Cassie and LaLa Vasquez's shaved sides, edgy cuts seem to keep these hair hoppers in the spotlight. Solange Knowles, who was photographed yesterday with this short sheared wash-and-wear hairstyle, is the latest celeb to say said goodbye to long tresses. The legendary model/actress Grace Jones was one of the first stars to make shaving the sides of your hair chic and cool. Are you bold enough to rock a trendy short 'do? Influential International Style: Kate Winslet

Kate Winslet made a serious splash this awards season, and I'm not just talking about taking home all the most coveted hardware and, quite remarkably on its own, being nominated in supporting and leading categories for two different films. On the red carpet, Kate made heads turn. Favoring solid colors and classic shapes, Kate always picks looks that flatter her hourglass figure. Her style is defined by clean lines (she is rarely photographed in patterns) but carries just enough interest to keep us constantly wondering what she'll wear next. Whether its Zac Posen, Dolce & Gabbana, Carmen Marc Valvo or Escada, she always looks good. Check out my slideshow for ways to adopt Kate Winslet's your (friendship with Leonardo Dicaprio not included). Photo credit: PR Photos
