LC Lauren Conrad For Kohl's Appeals To Recessionistas

Like most celebrity designers with high-priced items, appealing to the masses has become the latest trend. Target, Walmart and Kohl's have replaced Bloomingdale's, Saks and Barneys. Who can afford those anymore? And so celebrities, or their advisers, got smart. Sell your clothes for less in highly trafficked discount stores. Genius! The latest celeb designer to jump on the trendy-for-cheap bandwagon is Lauren Conrad herself. While LC's casual, Cali-chic pieces used to sell for upwards of $150, her line at Kohl's, LC Lauren Conrad, is priced below $50. Consisting of laid-back tees, tanks, dresses and jeans, the line is actually pretty nice for casual wear. I even saw a pair of boyfriend jeans for $37! Her line debuted on September 15th in select Kohl's nationwide and her second collection hit stores October 1st. Head over to WhatsWear to watch as Lauren explains her line and how she got ready for the launch.

Lindsay Lohan Working for Emanuel Ungaro?!

Lindsay Lohan finally has a job... in fashion! And we hope it will involve more than leggings and self-tanner. We're not really sure how we feel about Lindsay Lohan's fashion sense (errr), but apparently Emanuel Ungaro trusts her as he just allowed her to sign on to his company as artistic advisor. One thing is for certain, Ungaro is going to get a whole lot of attention having Lindsay working for them. And Emanuel knows this -- even if we don't love it, we'll definitely be paying attention to it. We can't wait to see how the new Ungaro line looks. Do you think people will take well to it or do you think they'll avoid anything bearing Lindsay's name? Get more details over at Limelife!

    Influential International Style: Diane Kruger

Diane Kruger knows what's up. As the female lead in Inglorious Basterds, as well as the less recent classics like Troy and Wicker Park, she never fails to sparkle in a performance. Although she won the Cannes Chopard Trophy in 2003, I have to say that her performance at Cannes this year really put her in the stratosphere. Her style is impeccable. She takes risks in interesting sleeves, cutaways, crazy patterns and haute couture texture. She tends to stick with basic black, but chooses outrageous texture and true haute couture. It's no wonder she's Karl Lagerfeld's little darling! One of the reasons she's looked so good lately? Karl himself has used her as a muse since she appeared in Chanel handbag ads in 2007. Influential International Style: Julia Restoin Roitfeld

Maybe at first blush you didn't recognize the name of this style maven, but if you don't already, you will soon know the grace and pedigree of Julia Restoin Roitfeld. To be fair, she had really great fashion upbringing. Her mother, Carine Roitfeld, is the editor-in-chief of French Vogue and formerly the business partner of Mario Testino and muse to Tom Ford, Gucci and Yves Saint Laurent. The Parsons-educated Julia was the face of Tom Ford's fragrance Black Orchid and her most recent campaign, this time for the new perfume Jil by Jil Sander, will be released soon. What differentiates Julia from most second-generation fashion editors (ahem, Bee Schaffer) is that she takes a unique perspective, and can change the idea you had about a piece of clothing. Like a leopard print tank, sequin miniskirt and oversize blazer. Says Julia, "Some people think that clothes are just things that you wear to cover yourself but I'm blown away because clothes to me are a sort of new pop art. Clothes can be either art or design but need a real purpose." Check out my slideshow for ways to adopt Julia's unique style to your wardrobe! Photo credit: PR Photos

    Influential International Style: Alexa Chung

Sometimes, when you see a girl with seemingly effortless style that you know you would look ridiculous in, even if you were wearing literally the exact same clothes, it can make you jealous. Okay, maybe that's just me. But in the case of British model/television host Alexa Chung, it just makes you want to be her slightly less cool friend. Having modeled for the likes of Urban Outfitters, Antipodium and Vivienne Westwood, it figures that her style boasts eclectic choices as well as informed classics. Think mixing white t-shirts with fancy shorts and a simple tote bag, pairing it with messy hair and actually not looking insane. She takes experimental choices on red carpets, always, always dresses for her own body, and always looks comfortable in her own skin. Check out my slideshow for ways you can mimic the lovely Alexa Chung's style and maybe someone will want to be your slightly less cool friend!

Mischa Barton, the former OC starlet known for playing Marissa Cooper and for her quirky California girl style, has just released her own line of handbags through online retailer ASOS. The fourteen bag collection reflects upon Mischa's boho-chic attitude with distressed leather and large antiqued bronze details. Also included on every bag, Mischa's very own emblem! So what separates these handbags from the ever-increasing list of other celeb-produced designs? Well, that's for you to decide! But I can tell you one thing, it sure is refreshing to see a starlet create a line that fans can actually afford. Mischa's handbags range in price from $43 for a clutch to $343 for a large leather shoulder bag. Check out more of her designs and decide for yourself if Mischa Barton Accessories is a hit or a miss by clicking on over to People StyleWatch now!
