Hot in the Hive: The World's Smallest Postal Service

My friend Amy is afraid of miniature things. To say the least, she would be terrified if I sent her a letter from Leafcutter Designs. The San Francisco-based "World's Smallest Postal Service" creates 120 word messages on teeny tiny 1x1.5 inch stationary and sends it off to the address of your choice! Your letter arrives in a tiny envelope, stamped and addressed to your recipient, which is wax-sealed with your initial. It arrives with a small folding magnifying glass so your lucky recipient will actually be able to read your message. These tiny letters are a very special gift and a perfect touch for a special thank you note, birthday card, or a "just because" note. And at just eight dollars, the price is right for such a sentimental gift!

    Price: $8-10

Batter up, all you MLB baseball fans! How 'bout some Major League buys? With spring training already underway, opening day is practically here! While sporting your favorite team is always stylish, there is definitely a market for some sexy women's sporting goods -- especially since Alyssa Milano's 2007 contributions to the ballpark bandwagon with her line, TOUCH. Yes, we mamas are die-hards, too, so why not wear it with pride? Wow the crowd, and perhaps pick up a baseball stud or two, with some winning MLB sports gear. Take a peek at some of these high-fly home-run hits before hitting the stands yourself -- just one look and l'll bet it'll get you excited for another grand slam of a season! (I would, however, advise against the pairing of multiple items in this slideshow: unmistakable foul.)

Letterpress Stationary: The Hottest Trend for the Stylishly ...

    image

The look of letterpress stationery is somehow simultaneously modern and vintage, elegant yet quirky, traditional with an undeniable edge. Letterpress printers press text, designs, and ink into paper, giving contemporary stationery an old-fashioned look that brides-to-be have been falling veil-over-heels for lately.

The good news is you don't have to be an almost-Mrs. to send out chic letterpress notes. Stationers like Hello Lucky, Pancake and Franks, and Dauphine Press are making thank you notes and even blank cards in the hip, everything-old-is-new-again style. Check out our slide show for some letterpress cards that might convince you to give email a rest (for a minute or two)!

HiveSlides: 10 Cool Gifts for the People You Almost Forgot!

Finding gifts for the good friends and family is hard enough. But picking the perfect present for the person you inadvertently left off that list, then remembered at the last possible second, well, that's a whole new level of challenging. Which is why it's smart to have a few extra, one-size-fits-all presents on hand, if only to save yourself from that last minute gift scramble, where you find yourself wrestling other last-minute shoppers for also-ran or truly awful presents like mismatched gloves and techno Christmas music remix CDs.
