Warm Up Your Winter Style In A Cozy Cape!

The winter wind chill always welcomes our beloved coats back into our wardrobe, but often times we can get stuck in the hum-drum routine of grabbing the same old coat every day, day after day. That's why every winter I try to find new and different ways to stay warm and stylish and this year's no different. My style solution to this winter's wardrobe is the cape. Cape, cloak, poncho-- whatever you want to call it, you know what I'm talking about and if you haven't had the pleasure of wearing one of these marvelous forms of outerwear, then I urge you to make it your next fashion purchase. Honestly, wearing a cape feels like bundling up in a cozy blanket, while still somehow receiving the eye-envy of everyone around you! Wear a cape style that is clean and chic like this INC cape, or be playful in something like Henrik Vibskov's poncho. Whatever style you sport, you're sure to stay warm this winter without wearing out your style. Click on the slideshow to see some of our favorites!

An ocean may divide us, but with Stylediary, I can always stay up-to-date with my favorite European fashionistas like sweetpea. Residing in London, sweetpea is a twenty-something working girl with serious style. Sweetpea combines retro designs with London's high street styles to get a totally hip and chic look. And oh my! I'm dying over her coat collection! Check out this adorable coat from Topshop and this coat from River Island. Plus, she has this charming tartan cape from APC for us all to drool over. Check out the slideshow to see some of my favorite (or should I say 'favourite?') looks from sweetpea, and also be sure to click over to sweetpea's Stylediary to see more!

StyleDiary Spotlight: Amethyst Dazzles In Romantic Dresses

    image
Greta on Sep 22, 2008 4:24 PM PDT
Meet Australian Stylediarist Amethyst. Although her style mantra happens to be "quality over quantity, her StyleDiary sure offers up an impressive number of innovative and romantic looks. I'm already inspired by her variety of shorter style dresses, skirts, shorts - and especially seeing how she wears them during the different seasons. Amethyst favors a classic yet timeless color palette of mostly blues, greys, creams, and black, but she isn't afraid to add subtle pops of color from items like grape-colored tights or a knit red beret. But fabulous sense of style aside, Amethyst's StyleDiary is worthy of a visit simply due to her collection of envy-inducing fashion finds. I'm already pining over more than a few items straight out of her personal wardrobe! Like this shrunken coat with beautiful ruffle detailing and this irresistibly chic ivory cape. So see Amethyst's StyleDiary for yourself, or click on the slideshow to see my favorite looks straight from her page.

Vacay Style: Hit the Beach One More Time Before Fall Gets Here!

I don't know about you, but I'm not ready for summer to end. And, frankly, with September being the best beach month of the year, I see no reason to start feeling like Fall's just around the corner. (Fall, I'll welcome you with open arms when it's time to start my 30-Days-Till-Thanksgiving-Mashed-Potatoes Countdown - until then, back off.) So in the spirit of late Summer vacations and wringing every moment of sun and warmth out of my favorite season, I scoured the Web for the best beaches in the US. Turns out, some well-traveled folks have very strong opinions on the subject! Travel and Leisure, for example, loves Cape Cod, Massachusetts for its prime swimming and considers Pfeffer State Beach in Big Sur, California an excellent nature escape. The folks over at Daily Candy love Cape May, New Jersey and Santa Cruz, California for their old school beach town vibe. And Gorp says you'll see the best sunset at Polihale, Hawaii. My latest obsession? Taking the perilous, cliff-side road from San Francisco to gorgeous Stinson Beach...a 3.5-mile dog-friendly stretch of khaki sand with quintessential California coastline views. Summer's not over yet, baby!

Vintage Style: 10 Eco-Friendly Vintage Finds Under $100!

    image
Mary Kincaid on Aug 1, 2008 9:23 AM PDT
Consider for a moment that, according to the EPA, four million tons of textiles are sent to landfills each year. Four million tons! Now we vintage fashionistas are already doing our part to alleviate this particular problem, but there's always something more we can do, right? Maybe it's time to check out that consignment shop on your way home. Or to make sure you keep some paper shopping bags in your car for your next department store visit. Or to find a tailor and re-fashion a dress you were going to trash. Being green and being chic are not mutually exclusive. And vintage fashions will always carry a lower carbon footprint than any of the new eco-fashion labels. Just click the SLIDESHOW to be inspired with ten fabulous finds under $100.
